The P4400BH Pioneer is nearly identical to that one, but ~$180 cheaper. I think the only diff is multi zone video. In a minivan that's cool, but who cars in an FR-S.

EDIT: As someone later pointed out, the 8400 has "Advanced App Mode" and the 4400 only have "App Mode," so there are additional differences other than just video

First thoughts on BeSpoke in the car - it's a serviceable modern audio solution. It's not gonna blow anyone away, but having the multimedia and touch screen is nice. The bluetooth calling features are solid though.

BTW - I now understand why people aren't talking about the radio. After you drive this thing it's all you can talk about or focus on.

Bluetooth on the stock radio also works very well.

Voice recognition with the iPhone kinda sucks at times though. It only seems to work if I bring up voice activation by pressing the button on my iPhone. Pressing the button the radio brings up the same screen on the iPhone, but it doesn't seem to work.

Hows the voice control with Bespoke? Isn't the Zypr voice activation supposed to be one of the whiz bang features?

The BeSpoke system does not have built-in navigation (even though I was told that it would have this). I must admit that I am disappointed that it doesn't have the promised feature, but the verdict is still out on whether I can become happy with the application. The Scion BeSpoke app just came out today, and it appears that a map application may integrate. That may suit my purposes, but it is all a bit hokey for $850 plus $450 (the cost of the old radio that was removed). For $1300ish, I would expect built-in navigation at this point. But, I am going to give it a chance for a few more days to see if I can get the voice and map features to work.

Keep me posted on how it performs

The voice recognition works pretty darn solid, but the problem is the commands they have. They have very similar commands for locating business, finding friends, and playing music. Seems to lead to a lot of confusion by the App itself. I'll let you know once I play around with it some more.

Just received my FR-S yesterday and I can tell you that so far, the BeSpoke is GREAT! I wish I had an iPhone to use it's full features but Ill upgrade to an iPhone 5 later in the year. As for quality, It's terrific! I was jamming with my friends every time I went for a joy ride yesterday. I put about 25 miles on it already, plan on doing more on memorial day weekend. The bluetooth connectivity is spectacular. The contact can hear me clearly and I don't have to raise my voice! haha. HD Radio is great. And my car came with it installed so I padi the $850 and that's it. Definitely worth it if you ask me. BeSpoke app is brand new so you can't expect everything to work flawlessly, even super successful apps still need updates. Fixes will come don't worry.

played with e Bespoke system yesterday at a dealership in their first FRS and it was nice. didnt get to interface through an ipod with it but the functions and interface was very cool. Worth the $... thats up to the individual.... i may go after market but i have plenty of time to decide lol.

Damn, that is rough. The dealer wouldn't credit you for the stock head unit? I (hopefully) have BeSpoke on the way to the port to be installed to my car before delivery, but even if it happened at the dealership after I took delivery the told me I would get credit for the stock head unit.

Wait a second. It's an $845 upgrade when it is port installed, but it is $1289 when it is dealer installed. If I got $489 back for my stock head unit at the dealer then I would save $45 vs having it port installed (where I get no credit for the stock head unit). Does that make any sense?

I take issue with that... should the app be released unless it actually works flawlessly? Things get a bit blurry when we compare car culture to computer culture. I don't expect anything else on my car to have issues, why is it OK for the head unit system to have flaws?

That being said, I'm sure that future upgrades will continue to improve the experience so I am not too worried.

With all headunits still I'm highly skeptical. Idk about this either.

The port install price includes a credit for the stock radio was how it was explained to me.

I might have the cost of the standard head unit wrong. The leaked accessory sheet says $489, but Davyator said $450. His price would be almost equal.
