Arizona
28, driving since 17, no at-fault accidents 2 speeding tickets, 3 (or more) traffic camera tickets Took a defensive driving school course when I was 18 Geico, $90/mo. Look into getting a defensive driving course, most insurers would be able to give you a discount for it. -RyanG |

I would have to think that the coverage details would play a pretty significant role in the cost, no? Depending what you are (or aren't) getting, $250/month could be a steal or a hosing.
For comparison: I'm in Michigan with all our unlimited lifetime medical and associated care benefits and their attendant costs, 250/500/250 limits, uninsured/under-insured, etc., costs about $105/month for a 2015 BRZ. Interestingly, it is only $3/month more than our 2014 Impreza's insurance costs with the same coverage terms. Homeowner's and umbrella liability through the same insurer, no tickets in the past 17 years. |

I'm 23 in los angeles, unemployed student, about 5 speeding/moving violation tickets across two states (though they are from a few years ago at the latest). I don't remember the exact number but it isn't even close to $250, that's crazy. Mine was a brand new 2015 too.
EDIT: it's worth pointing out credit is a big part of it and my credit score is in the mid 700s, so that probably is a big help.

I always just talked to my insurance company when quoting or renewing a policy about what's on my record and you can ask more specific questions such as when those things will fall off the record, they're typically very helpful on the phone when they want to get your money. Now that I think about it, corporate car insurance people have probably been my best customer experience ever... The independent agents were kinda slimy (i.e. salesman for different companies, State Farm primarily) but the people employed by the company (AAA, Progressive, Allstate, Geico) have all been extremely pleasant to deal with. |

Don't forget the importance of shopping around. The first quote i got made me think there was no way i could afford this car. A few calls later and i had a price almost 70 dollars lower per month. I couldn't believe the amount of variation! I am in Ontario Canada btw.

With an insurance quote this high, is it even worth owning a twin?
You've got 3 tickets so right now you have to pay for those mistakes. 3 years from date of incidence they come off your record (that's for all states). Reassess things after 1-2 tickets drop off bc $250/mo is ridiculous.
I've got 5 pts on my record and pay $133/mo for my Porsche (full coverage) and Integra (liability only). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Depends on credit bro and many factors.
$332 and change/month x<4.5% APR 5year. + Insurance@$110/month, clean record, decent neck of the woods, also seems bit high but I'm 25, and have highest insurance coverage available for everything. Try Mercury or Progressive. Quote:
$110/month. I've had mine since 16.5, 1 accident, 50/50 fault, 1 speeding ticket, I was the fat and the furious in a Corolla, now 25yr old, my streets have a lot of radios stolen but nothing else... Neighbor is 27, 2015 TC, he pays $76 or so. SOB. Depends where you live and % of car crimes/property damage...etc cases reported. I feel you though. I started paying $350/month from age 16-18. I was the guy who never had enough to go to the club in his car because he was paying for the insurance during college.

OOPSY! I think you misread or I mistyped on that post. I was merely sharing on OP's: Quote:
Just saying that $450/month for car+his quote of $250/month insurance would be a sad $700-800/month, whereas, I do about $450ish for mine. $332/loan+$115 insurance. It would not be worth it imo. Sorry, I type buzzed a lot. Whisky or rum time is shared with my computer time after work.
