That's what I am doing. The BUK (bug ugly knobs) on the stock unit work really well for controlling an iPod since it has the interface built right in.

Right now, trying to figure out if I can add a USB port in the glovebox but it looks unlikely. I tried a hub on the USB port and it doesn't recognize it, may require a powered one. Since I would never take the iPod out of the car except to refresh the music, I would prefer it were out of sight and free up the console port.

Did some research last night. The cable that connects the USB port on the console to the radio is a separate cable (it is the same part number as the radio but ends with -US). It has the USB connector on the cabin end, and what looks like a USB B port (the square type you would see on a printer) on the radio end.

Having not actually pulled my radio out, I can't confirm that is what it is. But what it would seem to me is that it would easy to replace that cable with a "regular" USB cable to the console if you were installing a radio that used a different one. The port does not appear to be hardwired into the console.

The civic has usb in the armrest storage area so you can keep everything out of sight. Wish they had done something similar with this car. A right angle connector would help but isn't entirely inconspicuous.

I wonder how hard it is to access the wiring in the center console. I'd like a discreet but non destructive solution.

I don't think it would be that difficult, most of it is just trim panels. Haven't tried it yet though because I want to retain the one that is in the current location and it doesn't appear you can make it split into two with a hub. Still need to try a powered up.

I'm using a USB flash drive, one of these little monsters:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=...rive&_osacat=0

The little door over the dash plug doesn't close completely over it but you can hardly tell it's there. It looks like the door just isn't snapped shut. And 32G holds plenty of road music.

I was thinking about one of these...time will tell what I do as I am considering adding some gauges and a single din HU which will most likely have a rear USB to route to the center box.

Granted, it sounds like a nightmare of cords if I do the above.

How does this play out when you're using it? Do you have any nav-through-the-music functions or is it strictly folders?

Left/right skips, up/down changes the folder.

I hit another button the other day and it showed all the folders that I could scroll through using the volume knob, but I dont remember what button that is and I dont read manuals
