I don't see any benefit on running anything other than the oem 0w20. UNLESS you are tracking your vehicle.

If you are tracking your car, you need a completely different oil than if you are using it only or mostly on the street. for track use, you need a synthetic base stock oil. most synthetic oils today do NOT come from a synthetic base stock. synthetics resist heat much better (i.e. track use). I use exclusively 0W-40 Mobil 1 European formula because it comes from synthetic base stock. 40W to better resist heat. other Mobil 1 oils do NOT. check with mfg. if you dont believe me. I have 50 track days on '13 BRZ and change oil and filter every other weekend.

You are going by very old, outdated assumptions. If you are referring to Group III base stocks, Mobil1 0W40 does indeed use Group III base stocks. Try doing a google search on Visom. Mobil1 uses Group III, Group VI PAO's, and Group V aklylated naphthalene base stocks across all of their synthetic oils. Most synthetic oils today are blend of at least two base stocks. And Shell's Group III GTL base stocks match or beat PAO's. And the overall package is more important than base stocks anyway. |

In all of my cars that call for 0w20, I either use TGMO, Sustina, or Mazda w/ Moly. All good choices. The Sustina is probably the best of the bunch, but the other two are so good as well and considerably cheaper that they're probably the smartest choice.

I'm sure many are seeing Chevron Supreme hydrocracked dino 5W20 at Walmart. I consider it a blend. It can be purchased for a little over $13 for a 5 quart jug. What's the breakdown , 21cents a quart more than SuperTech? CS is known to be a thinnish oil. On the bottle, it specifically claims to keep pistons clean. I am using it now. It's fine. It should be a viable option for combating fuel dilution. Frequent oil changes are in order with this stuff anyway. The TBN is quite modest. |

A lot of '15 WRX owners are moving to OAI testing for their uoa's to get a more accurate picture of fuel since Blackstone only estimates fuel. |
