And with the obscenely low weight (think about 1000 lbs lighter than our beloved 86's), the power to weight will be nice as well.

Honestly if they did make that higher output version it could really be the next S2000 or "S1000"

As I suspected, it looks much better with the top off.

If the car came with that 1L turbo engine with 127hp and weighed in at 1900 pounds(it won't... weight would go up a bit), it would still have a worse power to weight ratio than a stock S2000, but a 1L factory turbo that could be tuned for more power easily sounds highly appealing..... I wonder how much power a tuned modern 1L turbo engine from Honda could actually pump out? Hmmm...

It looks much better with a top-down, 3/4 perspective shot. From the side it's really obvious how squat and ungainly it looks. Just like most other myspace angle photos.

Looks like Mugen wants to play too.

From the article:
Honda aftermarket firm Mugen has wasted absolutely no time in creating a new styling upgrade for the just-released Honda S660 Roadster. With an obvious attempt at toughening up the spiky little kei car, Mugen has revealed an aerodynamics package that adds new bumpers, extended side sills, a new spoiler, new front grille, darkened taillights, new 15- and 16-inch rims, and a new hardtop.

I think it's funny how much time and attention we give to things that will never exist in the country we live in.

No different than the time and attention we pay to cars that are available but we could never afford but lust after anyway. It's all just part of the obsession....ugmmm...hobby.

Honestly I was pretty skeptical until watching this video, it looks like a fucking blast, <$20k USD for a mid engined RWD car with a manual transmission, 45/55 weight distribution, <1,900 lbs roadster? It'd be an amazing city car or commute vehicle that would be a hoot on the weekends with the occasional AutoX or track day for the talented, the aftermarket would be massive if they brought it over here because it's a smaller, cheaper, lighter, mid-engined Miata built by Honda, hopefully it would gut the Smart/ Fiat 500/Scion iQ/Mitsubishi imiev market with something fun to drive.

Honestly it could be part of the perfect reasonable enthusiast garage: S660 for commuting and casual fun, a racecar for true thrills, tow vehicle for racecar/utility/family hauling. A $40k garage that maximizes fun with minimal sacrifices (20/10/10 price breakdown).

I cant believe im just now hearing about these things! i really like the styling, they did the original honda beat alot of justice on this one.

Too bad there is almost no market for these here. Like the MR-S above it probably wouldn't do well. Honda could most likely sell the new R, MAYBE, if they gave it shot but this is a little too "flamboyant" for anything but the most hardcore roadster/track day enthusiast.
