Can I keep the factory SiriusXM tuner?

Hey guys... question as stated. I have a 2014 BRZ and just am about done upgrading my stereo. My headunit will be arriving in a few days (Pioneer 4100NEX) and I was wondering if it's possible to use or adapt the factory satellite radio tuner with an aftermarket HU? I commute in an area with crappy radio reception so I have to have my satellite radio! Thanks in advance.

Maestro won't do that. Their OEM integration is only for a few particular car models from the 'large volume' automakers (Ford, GM, Toyota).

I think you'll find that your OEM XM tuner is built into the OEM Fujitsu Ten nav HU. Even in other Subaru models where the sat radio tuner is a separate module, those only work with Subaru's OEM HUs. The only thing to do is sell the tuner module to another Subaru owner who can use it.

You can continue using your car's XM antenna. You'll need to find or fabricate an adapter (to convert from the square plug that was plugged into the back of the HU to the round SMB type used on aftermarket SiriusXM tuners).

First, follow the car's XM cable from the HU down to the floor, and see if there's a junction onto a longer cable (the latter will be the one that goes most, if not all, of the way to the antenna on the roof). Don't confuse it with the GPS antenna's cord, which has a very similar plug at the back of the HU.

If BRZ has that junction on the XM antenna cable, there are OEM "feeder cords" from other Subaru models that will provide what you need.

So I found this adapter... Pretty pricey, but I'm thinking about buying it because I want to keep things so I can easily revert to OEM in the case I sell my car....
