SiriusXm Antenna placement
Bought a pioneer avh-x5500bhs and also the siriusxm adapter for it. Tried the antenna on the dash and of course terrible reception. Also tried running it through the antenna and it would not fit under my beatsonic shark fin. So I decided to put it somewhere else and just sharing the idea. Have not had much experience driving under trees or near buildings yet, so i will keep y'all informed on the signal.
![]() Hidden pretty well if your not looking for it and really easy to run to the HU. |

hmm interested in seeing how the reception/audio quality is for you. I initially had mine running up the weather stripping up the back of the car and had it stuck on with the magnet right behind the stock antenna. It was causing some scratches in the paint which were removed when i had it opticoated and it was was just turned and remounted on the back window with some double sided tape. The signal was a tiny bit more consistent placed on the roof as it's metal but hasn't been too bad. Only complaint is i feel like i have to turn the volume up way high on the stereo for it to sound ok. I feel like the amount of gain in the signal is just way too low and for the most part just doesn't sound good.

You can get a smaller satellite antenna to fit under the beat sonic shark fin antennas. That's what I did. I haven't installed it yet to test how reception is, but hopefully will have the time within the month.

Is this still working out for you? If you get a chance, can you take a picture of where the antenna passes through the firewall?

Used to have good reception when installing the antenna on the rear deck.
Maybe on top of the brake light, that was when I lived in the Midwest...

Unless it's just my phone I honestly can't see where you have it placed? I have a Kenwood DNN990HD and I to have been considering XM as I miss it however haven't figured out a good puck location yet either. :-/

Also, I'm very curious where the antenna wire passes through the firewall into the dash, and back to wherever the satellite receiver is located. I can imagine having to pull apart a lot of the interior of the car in order to install a the SiriusXM receiver and antenna. |
