Do you tune for that high octane gas? How much faster do you think you are with it vs without?

I use it purely as knock repellent. The gains from specific tuning would be similar to what people see on E85, but only if you fill your tank with it (way too much $$$ imo). I mix about 1:5 race/pump gas to bump my octane to the 94-95 range.

I use 92 ethanol free for the track and have never had knock issues. Have you had knock issues in the past?

I'm paranoid, the engine was designed and factory tuned to operate on 93 minimum with provisions enabling operation on as low as 91 with reduced performance and light knocking (this is stated directly in the manual). I don't feel comfortable running just Oregon pump gas at the track when I've seen two concurrent fill ups from the same "top tier" station perform differently in logs. On the stock rom and a tank of "bad" 92, I have seen the computer sense knocking and pull timing to compensate. For the record, I didn't hear or feel any knocking during that tank and am going entirely on what the ECU was telling me.

From what I've seen however, the ECU is pretty good overall at adjusting itself to account for fuel quality.

I used Torco Accelerator at ORP with no issues. It gets the best reviews of any race fuel concentrate or additive. Cheaper and potentially 105 octane depending on your blend, higher than you can get locally. Dyno charts are on their site.

I think a half-can will get about 98 on a twin's full tank of 92 but don't recall exactly. Shelf life unopened of 18 months according to the manufacturer. It took about 3-4 days to arrive then I filled a couple of days early and drove around to let the ECU adapt. Butt dyno said buy it again.

Got an email this morning that discounted Pre-Registration of $195 is extended through Monday 3/23.

Ten Miatas and counting so far, must be some kind of club event tie-in. Just hope they aren't all Spec cars or they'll be buzzing all around annoying everyone with their speed.

Long range weather is looking fairly good, precip chance starting at 20% and decreasing all day, temps low 50's to mid-60's. I'm bringing a canopy just in case.

What? It was raw talent. Very raw.

It was so much fun trying to match pace with you that day. You had me regretting replacing the RE-11A's with mushy PSS's.

Yeah, bring your Spyder out, my favorite MR2, and hang with us. Have fun at TC, too, and let us know how it went.
