Best tire for traction on 18x9.5 +38?
Everyone looks for different things in a tire. I need grip. Tired of breaking loose when I hit boost in 2nd. Want to get it fixed before heading to TX2K next month for some spirited driving.
So, best tire for traction that can be daily driven? Not interested in the street drag radials. And will 265/35 fit without rubbing on a car dropped on S Tech springs? |

I am on NT05 265/35 with -1.9* camber in the rear (stock LCA/UCA, natural camber from drop) at I forget how low.... I have a very slight rub under suspension load. Its a tad tight of a fit. As for grip it isnt as much as I was hoping, I guess its time to try some NT05R instead for the next round. I still spin 3rd @ ~16PSI on E85 (although manageable), and anything higher is just worthless.

My 255 seem to have a little room to breathe under there. The 265 is only .4" wider, so I'm hoping there won't be an issue with my springs. Just don't know what kind of rubber to use |

First thing I would do is zero out the camber in the rear. A flatter tire is a good start for rear traction.
I'm not sure if most good sticky street tires will do much good unless you're going to heat them up first. Any of the sticky street tires I've driven need at least a full lap before they're heated up and sticky.

My car was done almost 2 years ago now. At the time, 400 was huge. I didn't want to go bigger for that same reason...shit breaks. I never launch the car. But I would love to be able to hook from a 30 roll. It's only happened a couple times for me, and it puckered my asshole each time. I hope I can come up with something to make that happen on a regular basis

I hear the nt05 is good and bad from a lot of people. To many mixed reviews for me..the tires you have are pretty good, also toyo t1r tires are good I hooked 400+whp in my mk3 supra from 1st gear onward easy with those. Maybe some others with boost can chime in?

I'm not sure they still do or not! I know I had them about a year and a half ago in 18" size but with all the new tire lines coming out they may not be available. The t1r was a great tire!
