It was actually very simple. Pop off the push on retainers, undo the bolts, carefully pull off the cover. Done.
Only thing to stress is "take your time". If your car has some mileage on it the retainers may be brittle. So take it easy and just work them out. You will end up with a few spare larger ones from inside the air diverter, so built in spares.
Install is very simple and well designed.
If you have no tune then remember to install the small internal thingy inside where the MAF sits. Can't recall the exact name of it but it is well documented. Very good instructions.
Performance gains: well like every one says the stock system is very good. I had an aFe oiled air filter installed before this. I noticed no difference in sound, I did notice a seat of the pants improvement at 4500 rpm. Previously I'd get the surge at 4800 rpm. Now I get it at 4500/4600 rpm. More pull at the higher rpm's.
The big plus for this CAI is that you do not have to remove the bumper cover every time you need to clean the filter.
Overall I like it and recommend it, especially for those staying NA or getting a SC that retains the stock air filter locations.
The air scoop is HUGE. For NA, every little bit helps.

Maybe. I don't think it would would that much of drop in time. The gearing comes into play as well as the power mods.
Anybody on here have some times for various mods. 0-60, 1/4 miles and such.

To all who have this piece, did you leave the black radiator shroud in place?? The one that sits between the upper rad support and crash beam.

Instructions say nothing about it. Only part it shows to remove is the factory snorkel.

It fits fine with it still on. I'm just wondering from a performance standpoint.

Don't know about that, the performance with or without.
But you are correct in that the instruction don't mention to actually remove the shroud. I think it's referred to as an air diverter. But the pictures show it as being removed. Step 12 specifically.
We'll need to ask @kraftworks I guess.

So I understand correctly, you use to the insert if you have no tune (presumably to keep AFR's in check) but if you are tuning you leave if out for a bit more flow and better performance with a tune?

Correct. That is per my tuner as well as in the manual.

I have scaled the MAF with the insert in. I got STFT's up to 20 before I scaled it. It flows a lot more air than stock, even with the insert in. I haven't scaled the MAF with the insert out yet, that's next on my list. If you do get a tune with the insert out, could you share the MAF scale spreadsheet with the rest of us?
