0-60 around 4.2 and quarter around 12.6. That's on a stock car. Yes, a monster.

Just saw this video yesterday. Phenomenal car! I don't particularly like the way the C7 looks, but the performance of the C7 Z06 (w/s3 aero package) in Randy Pobst's hands is incredible, especially considering it's a stock street car. The 1:30 laptime at RA matches the Evasive FR-S, which was on better tires and purpose built for the track. Very impressive.

I guess we have differing opinions on what constitutes a monster. I've always seen the convertible, auto corvette as a mid life crisis car for fat older men lol.

I would personally not buy an NSX unless it was going to be a garage queen, they're too rare and expensive. I'd be borderline okay with driving a Lotus Evora or Porsche 911 around if I had the money, but it would still be a somewhat occasional car. I've grown to appreciate all the scratches and dents on my MR2 because when I drive it around people think it looks like a Porsche, then they see the Toyota badge, then they see the dents, and then it's clear that my car is not expensive lol. I think the reason Porsche is doing so well with the Boxster and Cayman is that they're everyday cars, and an actually potent midengined competitor from Japan could pull that market away pretty easily IMO. The ratio of 911s to Boxster/Caymans on the road is tiny. I would be all over a basic, compact mid-engined car that comes in under 35k, financial responsibility be damned. Someone just has to make one so I can go into debt for it. |

Mmmm no I'm not. Research the demographic that buys an automatic corvette convertible then come back and tell me I'm wrong. Hell just google mid life crisis car and the vette is the #1 answer almost 100% of the time. Get a pink one and you can roll with barbie!!!

The Evasive FR-S was built solely for the track. There was literally zero effort made to keep the car streetable, and as a result (and not surprisingly) it's not driveable on the street. It's taken everywhere in an enclosed trailer. Stripped, gutted, and caged. Helmet required, no airbags. 6-pt HANS, race seats, kill switch, fire extinguisher. One-off, custom fabricated parts throughout. Runs on race gas. 4+ fluid coolers, would probably break in sub-zero temperatures used as a street car. Full engine build, no chance of passing CARB. The list goes on and on, but this is a purpose built track car. To me, the C7Z is not a purpose built track car. Too many concessions were made to keep it streetable (CARB certification/emissions, pedestrian safety, crash safety/airbags, cold-weather requirements, noise levels, pump gas). The purpose built track car in the Corvette lineup is the C7R.

And that's just your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Just because you don't agree with them, doesn't mean they are wrong. I do slightly agree though. Not saying the corvette isn't impressive, I just don't think a base C6 convertible automatic is. Now a track spec Z06/ZR1 different story.
