Based upon that link it appears there may be more extreme "kits" in the future that may yield 380 bhp. This may not be an upgrade to stage 2.3 but possibly an actual blower swap either to a larger displacement unit or one that can spin up to 25K like the new 1.7l unit going into the new Z06. I wonder if E85 tuning or meth injection will be involved? It would be more apparent if we knew how fast the blower is spinning to achieve 280bhp.

The dyno information has some strange hp/tq relationships and the axis points are not labeled for torque which is stated to be 227 at the crank I suppose. The curve shows power increasing all the way up the rpm band which is encouraging and the torque plateau is nearly 4K rpm wide.

After exchange and taxes that 2.3 kit would cost over $14000 here, and that doesn't include shipping. As much as I love the power curve, there's no way in hell I could justify that much money.

Thank you, definitely needed this power chart! That alone proves my point, it's the smoothest power band I have seen so far on a FT86! Power increase all around and no dips

Insureme, realistically, how is the noise level on the 1.3 in city driving and on long trips? Does it wake the neighbors?

All together, you get 280hp at the crank, and even with weight increased to 2800lb, you are looking at 10:1 weight/hp.

Lets say you take what I have, which is a fully loaded Blue Series, priced at $29,500, add the Cosworth on it $10,745, you get car with (95) RX7 speed at $40k. Totally worth it in my opinion considering I have more luxuries, still much better reliability, and much cheaper if you account for inflation.

As far as fall on it's face s/c, you don't know that yet as there are still no dyno charts. However, I have been told that the charger itself is good for the 380hp that Cosworth will ultimately put out.
You're kidding, right? You could literally buy a used RX7 for the price of the Cosworth kit (+ maybe a couple of grand... I see them go for $12k pretty often) and have two cars and not have to care about the reliability of the fast car.

I feel spoiled in S2K world, where pretty much everyone easily attains 400whp out of the box with a Kraftwerks or Science of Speed supercharger kit on an unopened factory motor. Some people are pushing above 500 with the SOS and a small pulley.

This Cowsworth kit is in no way worth the price. A simple turbo kit setup from Full-Race or Fullblown with a small responsive turbo would be way, way more cost effective.

When I saw the initial thread I silently said, here comes another product that is double the price of competitors only to deliver the same results.

Based on the info posted it looks like my "vision" will come true. The products Cosworth sell in the USA are so inflated, look at their pistons for the Evo and Subaru platforms, they are close to double the price of JE/CP/Ross/Wiseco etc. I didn't have fantastic results with their cams on an EJ257 with GT35R either...

Are they saying a stock car makes 210 hp or torque? Which both numbers are not accurate anyways.

I am thinking that looks like the torque curve but maybe misplaced on the chart.

Looks like flywheel horsepower. They are measuring torque in NM.

I would buy this kit based strictly on the name; I won't lie. Cosworth makes some of the best performance cars and parts on the planet! However, I already bought a Vortech kit and started installing it. If anyone thinks the Cossie kit costs too much, consider my expenses thus far:

Vortech base kit: $3995
Vortech 3.125" pulley: $85
Gatorback belt: $15
Tomei EL header: $690
Swain Tech ceramic coating of header: $255
Perrin catted and resonated header-back exhaust: $1550
Snow Performance water/methanol injection: $400
AEM wideband 02 gauge: $320
ECUtek cable, license, and dyno tuning: $1000
Deatschwerks DW65c fuel pump: $130
Koyo aluminum radiator: $320
Perrin oil cooler: $615
Perrin lightweight pulleys: $275
Raceseng cam block off plate: $90

That's right around $10,000 after shipping. Add another thousand or two if someone else has to install it for you. Mine's not done yet, but I'm hoping somewhere in the neighborhood of 300whp or 330bhp on 93 octane with methanol injection.

Still think it's too expensive? Modding cars is too expensive in general. Next time I'm buying a faster car to start with.

Quit making sense and bitch about the price, haven't you been paying attention?

Hey, it's not a bad way to spend 10,000 dollars. I got the hook-up from Harry; I paid cash. It's not a 10 second car, but once I get my MoTeC system exhaust overnight from Japan, it will decimate all. I just hope I don't blow the welds on the intake or fry the piston rings or me and the mad scientist will have to tear it all apart again.
