Mine is still in place and with the foam removed. I'd rather have it noisy on the inside and quiet on the outside so that there is less chance of the police hassling me in the hills.

Don't know why people get rid of it to clean up the engine bay. A boxer engine looks like crap no matter what you do with it, so there isn't much benefit to removing one little pipe IMO.

I had previously plugged the sound tube in my FRS RS1 and prefered it. I have now added the TRD Intake and in my opinion the intake sounds like having the sound tube plugged. But the throttle response feels better.

Sure, but it's still yellow.

And what is wrong with yellow?
It is just a lighter shade of orange you know!

I deleted it, but didn't like it much. For some reason, it made the intake noise sound uneven at some frequencies/RPMs. I put it back for now, at least until I add the UEL header, then will re-visit.

Did this with the 12V plug and love it! So much better in the cabin.

Now i need to remove the sound generator completely, but will need to find a plug for the main opening

I would just leave it plugged until after your first few services if having the dealer do them.
There is some history of dealers giving a hard time when they are removed.

Put in the red Perrin inlet tube. Cleans up the engine bay and gets rid of all that extra rubber/plastic. Interior sound difference isn't dramatic. Highly suggest.

It's incredibly easy to tell if you like it with or without.

If your car is stock with regard to intake, you are hearing it with the sound tube.

Then just use the method of taking the 12V plug from behind the glove box and putting it in the outlet in the cabin to see what (most of) the difference is without it. This is literally a 1 minute mod, even if you are hungover and mentally challenged.

I plugged mine this way awhile back just to try it and decided I like it better plugged, so that's how it has stayed.

Hey guys, sorry to revive such an old thread, but I actually use the search function and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, so I figured I would post a question. I am interested in deleting the sound tube entirely, plugging the hole in the firewall, and getting a new intake elbow that does not have the extra hole for the sound tube nonsense. Has anyone actually verified any difference in idle or air/fuel mixture now that there is more air available for the engine now that the tube is deleted? The last thing I would want to do is require a tune just because of deleting it. Maybe I'm thinking too far into it, but from the reading that I've done, our engines are rather picky. More air without more fuel and running lean could have long term effects?
