My takeaway from AROO was the effects of trail braking on our cars. I started applying it tentatively for the first time and found how relatively easy it was to rotate the car without too much drama at least on a flat surface like T1 and T2. I didn't attempt it on other turns but became confident, consistent, smoother and maybe even a little quicker through the chicane by day's end using trail braking. Reliable, predictable brakes helped. Never had any fade from the Carbotech XP10's and Motul 600.

@torqdork Yes, I was playing around a bit with trail braking T1 and T2 last time I was out, but was a little too unsure of my brakes at AROO to explore further. That being said my biggest take away was dealing with fading brakes, which I hadn't experienced in earnest until this past weekend.

My takaway was that I need real brakes to get the most out of my car...burning through a nearly new set of pad is no bueno and probably explains why I lost it at the chicane once and nearly a couple other times. Ordering some Project Mu HC800s to hopefully fix this problem

If you're gonna track it often, a BBK will save you $ in the long run. That will be my next big project. BBK/Cooling/sways & braces for the winter. Now the only question will be hold off having a kid so I can rebuild the engine for more boost.

Not sure I'm quite sold on BBKs being a better value yet, from my calculations it would take at least 10 years of HEAVY (like 2-3 times per month heavy) tracking to allow the minimal cost difference in replacement pads and rotors to make up for the cost of the kits. For me it's going to be a replace on failure part. Once I burn the dust boots and cook the seals in my OEM calipers it will be time to look at the the AP sprint kit. Also Everything I have read indicated that the rear OEM set up is more than sufficient for just about any level of abuse.

I agree on that my rear brakes to little to no damage from the track even though my fronts went from 8mm to 0mm...Debating on what to run now as I want a track duty pad that won't kill me on the streets (rated 0-x not more than 0 to x) Project Mu HC800s seem to be the sweet spot for me but vendors are saying they are backordered right now

I actually started the day wanting to work on late braking with higher initial pressure, lightening before and during turn-in. On the first attempt I got both wrong and was a little hot entering T1 with trail brake. That's when I experienced a quicker rotation and had to counter steer in both T1 and T2. After that I kept trying other T1 braking points until finding the sweet spot while working staying with trail brake.

So much to work on, I'm thinking about attending a driving school in CA early next year using their track prepped sports cars at a modern facility with quality instruction. Expensive, but in the long run might be cheaper than a couple of seasons in my cars with no consistent instruction.

My dust boots were still there as of last Friday (not sure of condition though). We'll see how they look when I swap pads out this weekend.

Eddie said as soon as you run a hot session you'll cook'em but it's nothing to worry about. He said not to bother rebuilding, just let them go.
