I ordered it through the eBay link above and it noted the oem part number is 1032000108. I never bothered checking at a dealership as I wasn't in a rush to get it. It ended up costing $15.36 including shipping from the UK and took a little over a week to receive. It's was less expensive than the two fittings listed in the original post and cleaner install in my opinion.

So the general consensus is this isnt as good, or better, than the perrin oil cooler or kate oil cooler for turbo applications?

it seems to be that it is not good enough for fi.

i am curious as to turbo on/off track temp data and sc on/off track data. i plan to eventually get the innovate, upgrade the radiator, and see what i observe on track before upgrading to the regular air oil coolers.

I was going to do this project over the weekend but underestimated the difficulty of finding a metric barb fitting... definitely not something you can pick up at Home Depot Racing or Lowe's Speedshoppe. Shoulda read the thread more closely apparently this is a common struggle.

On that note, I was wondering, what does the Forrester use? Is there not a Subaru part that we can use?

I ordered this:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KHTORTO/ref=ox_ya_os_product_refresh_T1"]5 Pcs Brass Hose Barb to M14x1.5 Male Thread Mold Water Coupling: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific[/ame]

I'll update if it works... if so I'll have 4 extra pieces for anyone that needs one hah

UPDATE 9/25: the barb on amazon absolutely does not fit haha

The Forester uses a different upper oil pan(lower block) that has a fitting built in

Ah I see so really to do this mod properly you've gotta swap the lower engine block. No biggie. Hahah

Once the coolant is warmed up, it's around 190*f. And it'll get hotter when driven. That's the temperature that has to bring the oil temp down. On the other hand, air cooled oil cooler (ie Perrin) has a way lower temperature coming into the oil cooler to cool down the oil.

Feel free to do the math.

(PS - I know some people who are boosted has oil cooling issues with water cooling oil coolers.)

Been thinking again... If that plug is used for the trans coolers in AT cars, then wouldn't there be a fitting that we could buy for the oil cooler??

The AT upper oil pan is different and has that fitting molded into it. They didn't want to make it super easy...
I had originally considered buying the different upper pan/lower block, but decided it wasn't worth the money vs just installing a fitting.
