Ended up ordering one of these because all the reviews ever said they would punch me in the balls if I didn't. We'll see.

If you wanted a localized solution nearer to your side of the car, then a MagicPro wired into the fuse box [via add-in fuse] and then just plug a normal car charger into the applicable lighter slot it uses.

The S3 is 1000mA, so a normal, less than 1m, USB cable should have reached from the glove compartment and supplied enough current to keep the device charged. Even the limited drain, it should have supplied 500mA and enough to keep it charged.
