Change your manual transmission fluid ASAP!!!

Wondered the same thing as to using the GL-5. Redline has a 75/90 that is a GL-4...........GL-5 is supposedly not friendly to brass blocking rings.

The Shockproof seems to not have any GL ratings that I could find on their site in the tech. info. section. Does the bottle have anything on it?

fixed 2nd gear grind and my 5th to 6th grind. Shifts like butter much better than pentosin which was my last fluid.

This cocktail was suggested for me to try by many subaru enthusiast since it is popular on the 5 speeds to fix synchro issues. In my case it fixed the similar problem that many people have with the wrx.

I did a complete oil change on my car when i hit 1000 miles. I used the 8100 eco-lite for the engine and the gear 300 for the transmission and diff and you do feel the difference. I wasnt to worried about the price of the oil since i buy wholesale price. but Motul products are great

I read about Motocraft fluid on one of these threads, and remembered hearing about it from a Miata guy. I work for a Ford franchise, so decided I should give it a try. At 11K (early May) I put in 2.5 quarts of Motocraft XT-M5-QS GL-4. Cost $17 per qt with employee discount. Twenty something without.
It's awesome. Borderline magical. In less than a mile I could tell it was better than Redline MTF. Two auto crosses later it still feels great. In 5K more miles I'll buy 3 more qts of this stuff. I might buy them tomorrow just to have on hand. You should all go out and buy some too.

Any others using Motorcraft fluid?

I'm considering to try this.

So my question is this:
Should i go with motul or redline since i live in phoenix? The reason i bring in phx into the picture is because it is so effing hot here (maxed out around 110-120 Fahrenheit (43-49 C)). Which viscosity or brand is better for hotter weather?


Also, if i change the tranny and differential fluid, will i need to buy these washers? Anything else (specific) i will need to change the tranny and differential? This will be my first time changing these fluids on a car.

Sorry to bump up a old thread but I looked in the manual and for the manual transmission oil and diff it says only to inspect every 7.5 miles ..anyone have a replacement milage ?

"lifetime fluid" I believe, which usually means it is a good idea to change out right after the warranty period ends on a street driven car.

No tranny fluid is lifetime fluid. You may be mistaken for coolant..

Nope, coolant is listed at an 11 year 137K mile interval, trans and diff are only listed as "inspect" with no change interval. If you get every service done by the dealer, you will NEVER get new trans or diff fluid, hence it is considered a "lifetime fluid".

I totally agree though that one should change both as a maintenance item.
