That said, any thoughts on the part #s for the diff ones? Or do I just go to the subie dealer and say I need BRZ rear diff crush washers?

been very keen to do this, shifting into second gear/ third gear especially when cold is a painful task....the sound makes me cringe.
But have been told changing the tranny oil from the factory viscosity will void warranty.... is it worth it to void warranty on the tranny?

whats warranty? ^^ lol jk jk, idk how they would void the warranty? thats like putting windex in your washer fluid would they not cover the wiper system if it breaks etc etc, just saying i dont think they would void it based on fluid as long as there are no "modifications"

Diff crush washer is also re-usable. Had no issues with my change.
The engine crush washer on the other hand is an always replace item. |

I dont know how it is in Canada, but in the USA the dealership has to prove the part caused the failure. If everyone gets 2nd gear synchro problems with stock fluid, and youve changed yours they cannot blame the aftermarket fluid, especially if its within spec.

I assume you use a floor jack to lift the car. I've always lifted my other cars from the sides where the recommend for the jack in the trunk. BUT, I started doing this with my floor jack and got worried by how weak those areas felt. What are your recommendations for floor jack lift points.
And of course with a little searching. I found my stinking answer. |

You want GL4 for the Transmission and GL5 for the Rear Diffy.
For Amsoil you'll need 2 different fluids as they don't sell a GL4/GL5. Motul Gear 300 is both GL4 and GL5 so it's a one stop shopping for that. We sell Motul at phenomenal pricing, if anyone needs it just click on our parts site in our signature! -Mike Paisan ![]() 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. Hi... Just want to be clear...you are using Motul Gear 300 for the tranny and differential or are you using Motul Gear LS 300 (limited slip version)?

Just a heads-up, I took may car with less than 6k miles in to the dealer for the rough 4th gear shift. They were just going to flush it but found a lot of metal debris, and ended up replacing the tranny.
I'm going to try to get their approval to swap fluids with something else, because the amount of resistance and debris is unacceptable. But anyone with the grind problems just swapping fluids needs to seriously consider seeing the dealer for a tranny swap first. |
