OK, do what you want.
Seat belts be damned, street racing is awesome, "Beating" "victims" boost my ego and makes me cool, who cares about my own safety or any body else's. It's not surprising how people can't take constructive criticism and choose to call names and dribble emotionally in retaliation due to bruised ego.

So after driving with the ESC for about 10 months now, I find myself fine "tuning" the engagement switch that sits under the throttle pedal. The most inconsistent aspects of installing the system from user to user is the ideal placement of this switch to engage the esc unit. I started playing with the android app torque earlier this evening to measure accelerator pedal input and throttle position with 4 following scales:
Absolute Throttle Position B Accelerator Pedal Position D Accelerator Pedal Positon E Absoute Engine Load (Cannot Monitor input until engine started and road testing) Turn on your car (without starting) then launch torque and load the above dials. Prior to doing anything else, while watching the screen apply pressure to the accelerator and monitor the % the pedal travels and absolute throttle % to the engagement switch "click" sound starting the unit. Take a note on the torque the reference of the pedal and throttle % locations, this your "HOME" location. While under your steering column adjusting the flexible plate to bolt down the engagement switch move and bend accordingly then measure with the Torque app to reference the throttle and pedal engagement points. Currently my positions set are a little difference because I also installed a spacer to raise the engagement switch to more aggressive engagement position. The settings are: 72.9% - Throttle 40.4% - Pedal position. While road testing the unit kicked in between 90-95% absolute engine load. Additionally, the unit kicks on more consistently to provide a more "integrated" feeling into the car's drive train for DD or back road fun. I am intrigued if anyone else has come up with other ways to measure the relationship of pedal location and engagement for maximum enjoyment..... I so please speak up. |

Did you measure boost vs rpm after that? It may be smoother because it isn't producing as much as early?

No, those references in my opinion are too variable, because the car can still be driven without engaging the unit. Using this approach is purely related to pedal travel until engagement.

Does this mean we should paint our compressors black? May help reduce intake temps.
Anyone want to test it? http://www.carthrottle.com/painting-...-engine-happy/

I imagine the gains would be negligeble since, unlike an intercooler, the supercharger is not designed to transfer heat. The surface area for the radiation to escape is rather small compared to the volume of air moving through it and the wall thickness is substantially greater than an intercooler, which will also inhibit transfer. With that said, painting it black likely wouldn't hurt anything.

Time for a bit more praise!!
I like to think the Phantom has F1 engine technology. Look at the "compressor" and "MGU-H" in the diagram. It is connected by a shaft to the turbo to eliminate lag. (It also has second job while turbo boost is high, it can generate electricity). Imagine the current required!!!http://www.formula1.com/news/technic.../923/1197.html |

This might be a stupid question, but would it be possible to turn off the system that reduces lag? I know this would not be a good idea on a dd, but I was thinking it might help those who are using it on a track. Don't need it spinning that turbo on deceleration, for example. Would probably be more beneficial to them if it were recharging at full speed. Just a thought, sorry if it has already been discussed. Been trying to keep up with this thread, but it's huge!

I do not think that the compressor motor is being powered under decel. The compressor should not restrict air enough to cause the drag reduction to kick in, but maybe someone else has actual experience to back it up instead of theory.

I think the money lenders might disagree with you.
