sub'd for near future reference. I didn't really understand the directions that came with my shocks, so looks like I need to acquire some oe front shocks.

One year later. The Koni yellow and Eibach Pro-kit combination continues to be a great combo. Not a single issue on my DD. Goes great with more HP from a supercharger. Adjusted the Koni shocks maybe twice during the last year. I see many cars slammed to the ground with less than a finger gap in the wheel well, looks cool but I it'd be difficult to drive around much lower than 1" drop. Only thing I wish this setup had was more camber adjustment (beyond camber bolts)... doesn't really matter for me right now, but when I got with 17x9 square I may need all the negative camber I can get.

Is the #3 pipe cutter referring to a 3" pipe cutter? I cant seem to find one that large...

No Harbor Freight in Canada

Home Depot/Lowes/Home Hardware dont seem to have a #3 Pipe cutter either...Other places sell it for superrr expensive. I can find a #2 pipe cutter but I dont know if it is sufficient.

I'll see if the local tool rental place has it.

I installed my Koni yellows today...didnt use a pipe cutter since I couldnt find the right size...doing it by dremel took foreverrrr. Cut was near perfect but for this install it doesnt seem to matter.

The only difference is that I used a spring compressor and the nut sits further down in the threads.

I have not done the rears yet...do I need spring compressors for that one?

You shouldn't need spring compressors to put lowered springs on, but probably if you're going back up to full OEM spring height. I just used my body weight to get the top hats onto my Pro-kits with the Koni yellows.

Just wanted to note that a 2" pipe cutter should be sufficient for this job as the strut housing is only 2 inches in diameter. Its extremely hard to find a 3" pipe cutter for a decent price in Canada, at least in the Toronto area.

I used a 2 1/8 pipe cutter and it fit well.

TL;DR

but when I did this on a bmw I used a sawzall. It wasn't ideal, but it worked.

Also you probably want to paint the now exposed metal after you do your cutting to reduce the chance of corrosion.
