Hail from hell
Yup. I have thrown a couple unzipped sleeping bags over a car with a couple bungies. It saved it from just under golf ball sized hail. there were lots of other cars that got damaged. Long story short, I had 4 vehicles.. couldn't drive or get them all inside. Saved me an insurance claim, thats what counts!

Hmm. The windows here have to meet whatever the current ANSI (or whatever) standard for auto glass is. Wonder if it's different glass for different markets?

We had a hail storm come through about 3 weeks after I bought my car.
The roof and hood did fare the worst damage (aluminum and thin metal). The trunk did get dinged up rather nicely and a spot or two on the rear quarter panels. All in all, the rear glass held up just fine. |

Yes I do... also like to kick wheels for some reason. Any how, there was a hail storm (ok, ok for the typo) a few months ago and most cars except German were damaged, I didn't yet have the GT86 at that time. I was just wondering what experience there was... |

German cars are impervious to chunks of ice falling from the sky? How is that? Isn't every modern car (unless it's a aluminum/carbon fiber supercar)built like a beer can to save gas and costs on raw materials?

All they know how to do is extract profit from gullible Americans who don't know any better (I say that as a former Benz owner).
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...gineering.html http://dougdemuro.jalopnik.com/germa...mer-1572026115 I think personally, if I know hail is coming, I'm going to run up the road to my office and park my car in the parking garage. All I need is 5 minutes warning to do so.

I pick it up from the body shop today, but they did use paintless dent removal.

But they are particular about some things. Here's BMW's paint process: https://www.bmwusfactory.com/manufac...ss/paint-shop/ They may use a better quality metal for their sheet metal, all I know is he's called the stig. |
