I called Topspeed and was told that they prototype their products at home in Texas, then spec them to their own factory in China for production. I suspect they don't actually own the facility - it's probably a huge contract shop like the ones that make guitar bodies in huge volumes to be sold under others' names.
My catback was shipped yesterday, scheduled for arrival Monday. The hardware's apparently zinc plated steel, so I'll substitute SS bolts, nuts & washers - I don't understand why anyone (except maybe in a very dry, warm climate) would leave anything in a SS system that will definitely rot and need replacement within a few years. I saw in an earlier post on this thread that the bolts are 14mm, and 9/16 is less than 0.02" larger. So if the flange holes are slightly oversize (which most are), 9/16F SS hardware will fit fine. And if the band clamp is also mild steel, I'll use a SS piece for that too. I'm tempted to polish the bluing off the tips, since I'm not sure I like it. They're blued with chemicals, not heat - so it should polish up like the rest of the system with a little fine paper followed by some compound on a rag wheel. One way or the other, it'll be up and running by the middle of next week & I'll post when it's on. |

I'm looking at getting an exhaust for my car and the TopSpeed products caught my eye.
My car is my DD, so I can't tolerate anything overly loud or with drone, but I want to be able to hear my car when I get into it. I'm willing to rust proof it and/or hush mat my trunk if its too loud. Should I get the dual canister, or the single? Thanks! |

That's a lot easier than paper and a rag wheel - I'll have a go at it! I can't quite look forward to blued tips on my car, as hard as I'm trying. One minute I think they're cool and the next I think I'll tire of it fast.
Thanks!! David |

I too am trying to decide between the race and the street. On an otherwise stock setup, would the race exhaust be loud enough to, let's say, be a nuisance to the neighbors? Also, how much louder is the street than the stock exhaust, again, with an otherwise stock setup?

The axle back/street set up is a Greddy SP Elite copy. I have one and its just a little louder than stock.
The race set up is a Greddy EVO3 copy. It is loud, it will drone. |

I have the Borla UEL header, isis 2.5" overpipe, J2 catless front pipe, and the top speed
street catback. Its sounds amazing and there is absolutely no drone. The fitment is about 90%. Its just a tad off center coming out the bumper, but with some tweaking i think i can get it spot on. Last edited by Swift2000; 05-06-2015 at 05:49 PM. |
