So much backpedaling. Reminds me when the PS3 came out and it was $120 more than the 360 and a year late. It sat at stores until they finally started pulling features (backwards compatibility, SACD playback, flash card readers, USB ports, etc) until they had something reasonably priced. I still have my launch day 60 gig, it was $629+tax lol.

2 generations in a row that prove gamers don't really want all the extras, just something solid to game on.

I don't mind the Kinect personally, I bought one for my 360 and I probably would have bought the Kinect bundle if I had the choice at launch.

Funny thing though is now people are asking for that stuff. PS4 is rumored to be getting local PS1/PS2 emulation, a media player, etc.

There is a lot of backpedaling. But the real change here is that a year ago the heads of this department wanted to push out an "Total Entertainment Machine." Well, they're gone. And the new team says now "it's all about the games."

The sad part is the gaming specific hardware isn't as good as the PS4, so you take away all that other "Total Entertainment Machine" stuff and you're left with something not quite as good at the same price point.

I enjoyed having multiplats made for the 360 and ported to the PS3, now it looks like it's going to be the other way around, which means we could see some of the glitchy messes that we did on PS3. Skyrim is a great example of a terrible port from 360 to PS3.

Oh well maybe I'll just have to get a PS4 earlier than I had planned.

Considering the cost of both consoles combined is around what you'd pay for a gaming PC, I'll just be happy to pick up both at some point. In the meantime, I am still enjoying the heck out of Titanfall and Forza 5, with some quality time still spent in Ghosts, Dead Rising, and Tomb Raider. I love my X1 and very much like the kinect integration. I think given the choice today, I would still get the kinect bundle.

Gamers are also usually cheap, picky, arrogant, and fickle individuals as well so it's basically impossible for them to ever satisfy the consumers completely. If you disagree with this, then you haven't been around the gaming community long enough.

I'm not a fan of the PS3's dualshock 3 controller, too cramped. The PS4's DS4 controller however, has set a new standard. I'm sure the XB1 controller is great as well, but the DS4 is a gargantuan leap forward.

The DS4 excels in just about everything except the triggers. And considering 90% of the games I play are racing and shooting, the triggers are monumentally important. It's some xbox has had down for a while and X1 is no different.

That's what they said about the WiiMote lol.

In all seriousness though I really enjoy the DS4 controller with exception to FPS gaming. Asymmetrical thumb stick placement is ideal for that so that's where XB1 takes the edge.

Surprised your 60 GB is still going today. Mine died a year ago. I did my best to baby it, but oh well. I honestly did not make enough use of the backwards compatibility since I had a 2nd gen PS2 (no firewire, but still has the hard drive slot) that worked just fine and was hooked up. As far as the Kinect for the XBOX 360, it gets used mainly for Just Dance for the wife. Aside from that, I have found zero use for it on the XBOX 360 compared to the XBOX One.

Granted I do not use the Kinect that much on the XBOX One, I am actually glad it came like that bundled. From Microsoft's original stand point about the XBOX One being a media house, it made sense. Now it looks like Microsoft is playing catch up with Sony in regards to showing that their console can game just as well (which is what it should have done day one). Regardless, I am still enjoying XBOX One and am finding myself enjoying Titanfall more than I thought I would (was addicted to BF4 for a while).

Love the DS4. Hate the light bar (the new dim feature, IMHO, is a joke) and the battery life is horrid compared to the XBOX One controller battery life.

About two weeks ago, you could play CoD:Ghosts online for free on both, PS3 and PS4. I tried it out. I was shocked. The DS4 controller was not too bad playing Ghost. Picked up the DS3 controller... aside from the visuals, the controller, at least when playing FPS online, was not really that great (personal opinion). The DS4 is an improvement, but as others have said, when it comes to FPS, it is hard to beat Microsoft's XBOX controllers. The XB1 controller, IMHO, is a nice step forward in the right direction, as was the previous 360 controller.

Aside from exclusives, and with Microsoft removing the requirement to need XBOX Live Gold for streaming apps (Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, HBO Go, Hulu Plus, etc.), I do not think you can really go wrong with either console. Furthermore, with the upcoming XB1 without Kinect for $399, I find it even harder to go wrong with either one.

I need me some Forza 5. It is, literally, the only reason why I want an Xbox One. I am addicted to Forza 4... :[

FM5 is both amazing and disappointing compared to 4.

The "career" is very bland, much like a Gran Turismo style of pick a car, pick a series, and make sure everything matches. The amazing flowing style of the FM3 and 4 progression (pick a car and IT finds races FOR you) is gone. That was pretty much my biggest gripe with it, because instead of just buying cars I wanted, I felt like I had to buy certain cars for certain classes and types to meet requirements in order to continue career. There's also a general lack of cars and tracks but tracks get updated for free via updates (which is awesome) and a decent number of cars are available for download (at a cost, which is not awesome). Those are somewhat excusable due to the nature of a launch title, but I'm baffled at the design choices for the career.

Having said all that, it's fantastically fun and looks amazing. The cars and tracks look great inside and out, everything is fluid, and the feel is excellent. Plus, my GT86 is very much fun to drive in C, B, and A class. Gets a little unwieldy in S class!

I agree 100%. Forza 4 was the best racing game we've had to date on any console (note I didn't say PC).

F5 almost feels like a tech demo to me. But it's still fun, and a great way to demo the X1 since it looks and plays absolutely amazing.
