This sucks that this shit happens but it does. I know cars were much more expensive in the Philippines as well. We really do have it well and people complain about the difference between $23K and $25K. If you can't afford the difference in the payment they you shouldn't buy it.

Funny about the Bugatti, that along with Enzo, MaclarenF1 and Pagoni Zonda have never been spotted on the roads here. Everything else is available, Ferrari's. Lambo's all that common stuff! A good estimate is 3.5 to 4 times retail of an expensive sports car, I guess that makes the Bugatti somewhere between $5m to $6m USD... lol.

As for bring a car across, you can do it, but the car gets confiscated if you do not import it fully assembled as you need it inspected on entry and papers need to be issued to get it registered. Parts can only be used on a car already registered. My mate got a GTR R34 from Japan, had Prime Garage, HKS turbos and the works.... cars not his now!!!!!! Bloody department of Transport had a shaddy auction that brought it up for offer, guess what, only Transport officials where there at the time, my mates car got bought by the departments boss for his son at $100 fuck'em.

I have 60 staff in my company.

CFO makes $2300 US a month.
My top Engineers makes $6000 a month
My average Mechanical Design Engineers make $1000-$1,200 a month
My Technical Design Manager makes $6000 a month
but the average local (ie Thai person in my company makes about $500 USD a month)

The base salary for labour is $10 dollar a day.... Unless you've got a degree in something your not making over $500 a month.

Doesn't the value of a car depreciate because it's an old model year or used?

It's a shame that the price is so high.

Now each of these are 10 minutes from home!!!!!!!!!

Price of GT86 is not officially released yet here, but the BRZ was just released. BRZ here costs US$143,970
I am feeling better now!! lol

Here's some more for the US to see.
_________________US price ____ Thai dollar price
Toyota Camry______ $26,600 ______$55,000
Honda Civic _______ $16,500_______ $30,000
Ford Focus________ $19,000_______ $29,300 one of the best... Ford not ripping us off
Honda CRZ ________ $21,100 ______$65,800
Hyundai Veloster____$17,300_______ $46,700

I believe most of the USD would be negotiable from recommended retail prices, so would be cheaper again. None of the above Thai prices will be negotiated from these prices.

Hahaha, true true, but you have to finance a lot of money if you want to upgrade to 86.

Sirus, you're right. It does not matter what you pay for a car in another country, they have an estimates sheet at Customs. They take the car purchase price from this sheet, add the value of transportation via shipping, mulitple by 10%, add together, mulitple by 100%, add together, mulitply and add another 7% etc etc etc

I wonder how common it is to purchase and get insurance in another country and just... I dunno... keep it there for a while?

I'm guessing it'd be a pretty bad thing if the car was stolen or something. :P

You can buy it in Australia, import to Cambodia, then get permission to drive into Thailand, then every 30 days drive back into Cambodia.... Get's pretty boring after a while. Then if you forget they impound your car. Then you can't sell it one day if you want. OK, but it sucks...

Even if they calculate on a depreciated value, would you want to pay for your car twice for no good reason? Unless it's a collectors or your really really really can't let go of your car I don't think it'd be worth the cost... Obviously it wasn't worth it to my mate
