I'm an Aussie but lived here for close on 20 years. Believe me when I say I know the prices we pay for cars is retarded. A 5 Series BMW will cost you $130,000 AUD? I actually don't know the price of a GTR, but I'll find out. You don't see them on the road here.

Enemies, you are correct, the MX-5 does sell in this range. Problem is they only sell 30 to 40 of them a year here, which sucks for us that want something other than a Honda Jazz(Fit) or Toyota Corolla to drive around in.

The taxes you guys get on cars over there is ridiculous!
It's a hard one now. I've had my AE86 for years and have been dying to get a big brother for him. Was planning to buy a couple to hit the drifting circuits, but with this now I'm putting the GT on hold... I would have been able to deal with $50k USD, but $80.... fuck, that's even a lot for me...!

Now I'm curious as to what a Bugatti Veyron SuperSport costs there.

Sucks that the prices are so high. But I've got an idea.. Come to the US and buy one. Completely disassemble it. Bring it back in boxes. Reassemble. BAM!

What is average income over there, though? I know it'd be a lot easier to buy an $80k car if I made double what I make now... (I have a feeling it's the same or worse than the U.S. but I'm just curious)

You're asking what the income is for the land of $7 USD/hr massages?

From a US perspective, I wouldn't really want to drive this car in Chiangmai anyway. The roads are crowded and every lane full, mostly with motorbikes. The mountains, though, would provide some great driving, especially on the way up to Pai!

It's a shame that the price is so high.

Most Thais I have seen in Bangkok are Chinese mixed, and they earn "LOT" of money from their business. Some business people who has A cloth shop in Bangkok probably earn 150-300K a year. Working class Thais are the one that earn little.

I could be wrong about Chinese mixed population in Bangkok though.

Hi neighbour,

Here in Singapore, price rumours of GT86 is at US$130,000. Hope that will cheer you up

Price of GT86 is not officially released yet here, but the BRZ was just released. BRZ here costs US$143,970

I might be wrong but i'm sure the import tax is almost the same price of the car in Thailand. That's why my friend didn't take his GTR with him when he went back. Way too expensive!
