Price of the GT86 (Thalland) WTF Toyota

Toyota have just announced the starting price for GT86 in my local market...and you guys are complaining. I would like to put a personal message to Toyota...What the fuck are you guys doing!

GT Limited: 2,740,000 baht = USD $91,333

Standard G: 2,490,000 baht = USD $80,000

I mean, come on Toyota, we here know there is a stiff import duty on cars, but this is on cars over 218 hp, so your not fooling anyone. The is blatant robbery of your faithful.. WFT

After quite a few posts here is the running tally of very high priced countries:

Add ......... to the list:
Singapore BRZ
$145,365 USD
Singapore $130,000 USD
Thailand $85,000 USD
Norway $78,000 USD
Finland $61,000 USD
Belgium $42,328 USD
USA $24,000 USD

I am very upset that I have been active at different levels with the feedback Toyota constantly were seeking on the GT86, and yet it is not the peoples car that we thought. The car is, but they are unnecessarily screwing the consumer in many countries outside USA.

Camry is $55,000 about double US $26.500 price.
Yaris is $18,000
Corolla is the same as a Yaris or a touch more, $20,000

Pretty horrible... Is it in line with something like a Mazda Miata (MX-5)? I'm wondering if they are trying to price close to the competition.

jayjayjayjay is right. In Thailand, import duty is so high. As I know, GTR is almost USD $300,000 over there.

You guys got ripped off. My friend in Cambodia got his GT-R for only 180K includes importer's profit. You can easily buy the car from Japan and import it there for less money. If I remember correctly, Thai drive RHD cars.

It's expensive but I'm not sure Toyota deserves too much blame over it. A 370Z goes for 5,200,000 Baht.

Looks like all the pricing for performance cars is pretty much in line with each other. Just well above where it costs in a lot of other places in the world.

Damn are we all glad we don't live in Thailand. Sorry to hear jayjayjayjay.... but I'm assuming that you won't be going through with purchasing one?

The taxes you guys get on cars over there is ridiculous!

Meh, nothing unusual. High import duties for a high HP or displacement car + high taxes on luxury consumption.

that's the point, the government is implementing a price policy to control social spending.
