@PMok
For T1, up shift early if you have to but do get into 5th for that front straight, and take T1 in 4th.

As for T5, take it middle-left but you don't need to brake, just lift. Keep the steering straight until you're over the hump. Once over and the car is settled, get back on the throttle and do your thing with the steering wheel.

Hope this helps.

had a few other questions which maybe I should have asked anyone else who was around and available that day...

on the front straight, I was hitting top of 4th gear near the end of it and found upshifting to 5th let me carry a little more top speed, but then found myself only being there for a few seconds and then having to lose time on shifting. So I found myself at times staying in 4th and just holding at redline until braking point for turn 1. thoughts on which is better?

and in turn 5 (bypass), not sure where I should brake and where to get back on the throttle. I was told it was very similar approach to turn 3. But I tended to take it fairly conservatively.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Great job putting this together, wish I knew earlier.

I'll probably have a few days in there this year, probably not 9 though!

I doubt I will have the ability to do nine events either, but I'll join in whenever I can. Just because it's fun, and I'm not super competitive. So yeah hope to see more guys out there!

My more detailed writeup of the day's events, along with some more of the great photography by @Pwolf is now up on 86DRIVE ...

Saturday March 22, 2014. It’s 4AM. I sat in a dark, deserted parking lot in my car, rubbing my eyes. I’d had only 4 hours of sleep before coming out here. To my dismay the Starbucks wasn’t even open yet. I was waiting for 86DRIVE co-founder Jessie, aka “MyRx”, to show up. He arrived a few minutes later, GT86 headlights gleaming in the darkness. Starbucks wasn’t going to open for another half hour, so we decided to hit the road and start our long journey up to Thunderhill Raceway. ... Continue reading

I will be there as well for both days.

86Cup has a small change - we will have a sticker to allow us the same privilege as the Chrono drivers in hopes to provide a lesser traffic lap(s). We will still run in the Point-by or Open Group.

No problem. Until said, it's what NCRC uses on their Chronos drivers, so that the steward knows when to release them. NCRC has them, they gave me a bunch.

NorCal 86Cup's 2nd and 3rd Event is this Saturday and Sunday (April 12 & 13) at Buttonwillow Raceway. Everyone welcome to spectate and enjoy. See me @MyRx - Jessie at the drivers' meet for the forms and a sticker. The sticker should allow us an earlier or cleaner lap(s) during our sessions.
