Time for a bump and an update. I few months ago, my overflow tank was almost empty on a warm engine, so I had it filled up at the dealer. 4 months later and it's looking pretty level. Looks like it might've just been a bad burp in my case. Will update again.

I personally think the car "burns" a little coolant during normal use. I had to fill it up 3 months ago and it's already getting considerably below where I filled it up to last. Bought a jug of coolant and plan on just filling up as needed.

I know 2009 Cobalts had an issue called "porous block." Caused engine failure ...main symptom was losing coolant.
http://www.cobaltss.net/forums/08-10...thread-265567/ Also apparently Honda cars have this problem also.. |

Coolant and engine oil disappearing
I bought my scion frs march 2013 and ever since my 3-4k miles I noticed my engine going bone dry with no oil and also my coolant level very low. I brought it to toyota and they told me everything was normal. Now every 3-4k miles after that I kept having the same problem. Dangerously low oil levels. They continue to tell me this is normal which was total bs. 5 oil changes later them telling me this is normal I found traces of oil in my exhaust pipes and metal shards in it. I bring the car to them and they pull the engine to find that my cylinder walls have scoring on them from having no oil. They replaced my short block and gave me my car back. Now my car is making a winding noise when accelerating and when I come to a stop my engine is shaking as if it is about to fall out. I have been in contact with corporate toyota regarding this and they have helped some what but I have a service appointment tomorrow regarding this new engine shaking. Any idea on what I should request or if I should file a lemon law?

I brought my car in for service today after only having the car back for 2 days and experiencing the engine shaking and making winding noise after they replaced the short block. Now they tell me not only was the engine a problem but they are replacing my transmission as well. I have contacted New york attorney general and also corporate toyota to see if they will settle before arbitration. If i dont hear back from toyota by weeks end i am sending NYSDRA the $250 necessary processing fee to get a hearing date.

My car is back in for service now for the 3rd time since engine and transmission were replaced. Check engine light is on with code p0353 which is ignition coil. Also my engine is making a winding noise and shaking and rattling. Sounds as if the rebuild was unsuccessful and sounds as if the pistons are rubbing the cylinder walls. something just does not sound right.

That does not sound reassuring at all...it could just be something that is loose/improperly fastened, but either way tell them to take it back and give you a loaner until you decide what you want to do (vehicle buyback, request new motor, etc)

So they said all the engine noise is the high pressure fuel pump which is total bs. It legit sounds like the engine rebuild went wrong and pistons are rubbing cylinder walls. I go to the dealer to see my car. I ran in the back to see what was going on before i talked to my service manager and i see this....
[ame]http://youtu.be/i3whl_Yb8RY[/ame] I did not tell the service rep that i saw this and i ask him so what are you doing to my car now? He says just replacing the high pressure fuel pump. So knowing what i saw i said are you sure thats it? He goes yes that is all. So anyone that knows this car will kno that you do not remove the engine to replace a high pressure fuel pump! |
