I am pretty sure most if not all the testers have been running the same dump batteries for over a year now. Not all batteries are the same, and while I have not looked into it, I trust Rob did his homework before giving them the go-ahead. I believe these batteries were designed for this type of usage, and infact work better after conditioning them and "warming them up", with quick discharge/charge.

I haven't looked at the specs in a while, but some batteries work best in high discharge applications. I believe this are those such batteries. With those batteries, they actually last longer being drained quickly.

The SLA batteries used in the ESC can also be found in electric wheel chairs and other motorized vehicles. They are designed into these devices for their ability to survive deep discharge and fast recharges. They are low cost and light-weight. The ESC indicator provides the condition of the 28VDC bus. When it begins to not charge back up to 28.4-28.6 VDC AND discharges too long, it is time to replace them.

As far as I know, no one has gotten to this point yet. And when the batteries get to this point, a replacement pack is less then $100. It's analogous to belts and oil changes with other FI systems.

Clarkson is not a bad driver. He has excellent car control and is reasonably fast. He's no racing driver, sure, and his focus isn't always the fastest lap, sure, but he's probably faster around a track then at least 90% of this site's members.

Mmm. Thanks. Well, I think I can live with 209/189 at the rear wheels.

That's what, about 250/215 if measured at the crank?

Was the max on the TQ250 with 91oct about 205/180? If so, that's not that big a jump for the header, but there's obviously more to it than just the peak HP/TQ.

I'm not certain if that had the header though. We will need shiv to confirm for sure because there was a lot of stuff all posted at the same time.

Pretty much my opinion based on what I've seen of his driving... which is why I can't figure out why I can pull a 0-60 nearly a second faster than he apparently can...

Depends on how hard you want to abuse the car, surface condition, atmospheric conditions, and a ton of other factors. You know that some cars are stronger than others.

Oh, I know, but 1 full second stronger? My conditions were barely above freezing on stock tires - hardly ideal.

And if spinning the rear tires a bit is abusing the car, then I certainly did. But I hardly dumped the clutch and I only made about 6 or so runs total.

That is why I hate the American version of Top Gear so much. The guys on the show just don't go together. They could keep the guy with the beard. But get rid of the others. And make Patrick Long the American Stig.
I'm good friends with Tanner. Known him for over 10 years back when he was a Evo VIII customer. Our mutual friend Paul Gerrard did some of the driving for Top Gear UK (the episode where they drove super cars around NYC). Paul was Clarkson's uncredited driving double (in the 458). I don't believe any of the UK drivers are especially quick. Nor do they really have any reason to be. But Tanner is fast as hell in anything you put him in. I just wish the did more stuff in TG US that took advantage of the that. Oh, and I think I know who the American Stig is (no, it's not Tanner)
