Just by clicking Shiv's name and looking at recent posts I found the answer to auto lip three times since the 11th. More than anything people being lazy is the problem; not the specific question. I have no idea how vendors are so patient with us.

It takes a certain kind of personality.

It's no big deal at all. I don't expect everyone who do searches on every subject before asking questions. And there is really no excuse for me (or any vendor for that matter) to get frustrated for being asked the same question frequently. You guys are paying us your money to do something we like doing. If answering simple questions is the most frustrating part of the job, it isn't a bad gig.

It's like when famous actors complain about their job and how they have to sign autographs or go on press junkets to promote their film which they got paid way too much to star in. I feel like shaking some sense into them. They could have just as easily gotten a much harder, less paying and more thankless job. They should consider themselves nothing less than extraordinarily lucky. Ok maybe us vendors aren't quite that lucky but I'm sure we have all had jobs that were a lot more difficult, not as fun and not nearly as rewarding. And seriously, our customers are super nice to us. How could we get annoyed at them?

Nice find. I don't want to jack the thread because it's for Shiv's product and services, but I do find the distance from brake to accelerator less than ideal. With my track car set ups I space the pedals so I can roll for the blip. Very easy and intuitive under heavy braking. With the BRZ I need to literally twist the foot for a heal-toe because of the distance and height differential. I'm fine with that on the street with minimal brake pedal travel, but we'll see what the learning curve will be during track season.

Ok. No more jacking.

Thanks for the link. I also find the gap a little big for me, was having trouble finding some nice pedals.

@shiv@vishnu
Thanks for answering the auto-blip questions 2,3,4 times, and gotta say your seem to have a great disposition. I understand a little more now why you say it is a gimmick, and I think I'm starting to agree with you.

Anyway, back on topic.

Yay! Picked up my OFT from the post office today. Installed, Ready, backed-up and flashed to Stage 1 in like half an hour. So easy a caveman could do it. (Please don't sue me GEICO).

Feels great, I can really feel the reduced torque dip, but I don't think my Butt dyno is calibrated enough to feel anything in the top end. So I scheduled a dyno session at my local shop this weekend, just because I'm curious and want the data.

Took a quick data log before and after flashing. Unfortunately it was very foggy out and couldn't get many pulls in safely before it got too dark to see anything.

Stock Run:
http://www.datazap.me/u/cgs4706/log0...=0&data=1-2-12
Stg1 Flash: 2nd and 3rd gear pull
http://www.datazap.me/u/cgs4706/log0...zoom=1588-2298

Only thing I thought was weird was on my Stock run before I flashed my IAM was 0.7 and went up to 0.85 after the first pull. Is this normal?

I noticed my IAM stated at .7 with the stock tune too. I've never seen it leave 1.0 on the Shiv's tunes.

@shiv@vishnu I tried to call yesterday and ask over the phone but never received a call back. I figured I would post here. Is there going to be any development on faster flash time? This is quite troublesome while on the dyno. I just had someone time a flash for me @ 8 minutes 5 seconds. This ends up costing a fair bit of $$ while on the dyno and it is extremely important to me to save people $$ on the dyno.

is this combined transferring the map to the device and then flashing to the car, or just flashing to the car? i'm concerned about this as well. i have people asking for dyno tunes using the OFT but i'm afraid to quote anyone before i know just how much extra time each flash will take. at $100/hr it's not insignificant.

This was simply flashing from OFT to the car. Not including the transfer to OFT. I have also had problems with OFT being plugged into both OBD & my laptop at the same time so I end up having to close the software, flash ecu, unplug the OBD connection, plug into my laptop, open OFT, let it run the update routine, Let it check for files, Transfer files, Etc. This comes up to 10-12 minutes on average per flash. When paying $1-2/min for dyno time this is quite expensive if you are doing more than just a hand full of flashes so it has been a struggle for me. Of course you can pre-load a number of rom's to the OFT but then there is still the ~8min flash time between tests.

It looks like his recent post mentions adding a number of logging parameters both you and me needed for tuning, but this is equally important.

I have noticed that it "Communites with the DME" for a while. I am guessing this is some verbiage left over from the BMW builds of the OFT. Hopefully they can soon cut down on the writes as it should be possible to write software to locate and overwrite sections. This usually take different programming experience that some people just don't have though.
