It's a great little package, and the user-friendliness is a huge plus for the plug-n-play crowd, while the architecture is there for those who need to/must go deeper.

I do have a practical question though: on the Stage 1 maps for a 6 MT, is the rev matching feature available? If so, how is it enabled?

Thanks.

Yes, the rev matching feature is enabled by pivoting your right ankle

All mechanical/physical, no electronic aids? I was hoping for some new-school electronic action here!

The answer provided has been that it is not worth the work and promotes poor technique. To be perfectly honest, this has been the easiest car I have driven to rev match and it is really rewarding. The nice thing is, with the tight gear spacing, you can match ever downshift and after a week or so, it becomes second nature.

If you want a car that drives it self you shoulda bought a GTR. If you want to really learn to drive then learn what the FRS/BRZ is telling you through your hands and your ass.

Look some want it some don't. Regardless of what you think about driving that's no excuse to belittle those posting here asking for it.

I don't care about the feature I want a logging program that's more like HP tuners and the ability to select more options to log.
Not everyone cares about that either. To each his own but this mentality of giving those asking for certain features grief is starting to get negative.

Thanks for the perspective; wish it was shared by more.

Since I didn't realize that every time I ask a question I'll have to defend my personal driving skills and track experience and--in this case--what a great heal-toer I am, I will say that I thought I read in a summary "somewhere" that the OFS tuning maps included this feature, and what the hell, I wanted to play with it. If they don't, they don't. At the very least I kept my question focused on a product-specific issue.

On the positive side, we should all be gratified to know that the only difference between the Twins and a GTR is auto throttle blip / rev matching. Bravo ToyBaru!

I'll go work on my deficient skill sets now.

Unfortunately, there is no good electronic implementation of rev matching on an MT. It's not like single or dual clutch automatic transmissions where the electronic brains have control over every aspect of the gear change. In such a situation it's possible to execute a perfectly rev matched downshift 100% of the time. But when the driver is controlling the gear change and the ecu/TCU is controlling the rev blip, it won't work perfectly since the ecu/TCU doesn't know how many gears the driver is dropping down or the timing at which the gear is being changed. This is why autoblip implementations are iffy and, at times, dangerous such as when the driver drops 2 gears and only gets enough blip got one 1 shift drop. The end result is a chassis disruption that, if done in a corner, can cause a spin in the hands of a novice driver. And yes, sometimes it is necessary to shift mid-corner. As a long time driving instructor, I've seen a lot of people use pretty awful crutches to avoid developing skill (usually unintentionally). What ends up happening is them not developing the skill necessary to execute certain technique (in this case downshifting and braking simultaneously). 10 out of 10 times it's better to avoid this technique rather than doing it incorrectly with an aid that doesn't work nearly as well as you could with a little practice).

I am all for good driving aids. Things like traction control, stability control and ABS saves lives everyday. This is because they can do things, 100% of the time, better than 99% of all drivers on the road. Auto blip, on the other hand, will never be as good as any driver with more than a couple weeks of practice. And it will always be more dangerous. Which means that it is not an aid but rather a gimmick.

The responses are getting more negative because the dead horse is starting to rot.

Maybe Shiv should have his sig link directly to the FAQ.

No its not its borderline, but if it gets negative its going to derail the thread and who knows where that will end up leading...

Some folks are taking it that way. I for one can't help rolling my eyes when another person asks a question that was answered repeatedly.

If I can give a little advice to folks it would be this. If you see an interesting product go read the website. All of it. Then if you have questions read the relevant threads. ALL of them. If no one has asked and been answered then by all means ask. Not everyone has a ton of time on their hands and I get that, but what makes someone think the people developing this stuff for us have more time than we do? Do a little research so you don't ask a question from earlier in the same damn thread. It pisses people off. I'm probably coming off as harsh without meaning to. Sorry if so.

Not necessarily read everything, but a quick search via Google with domain specification, or simply just control-F on the FAQ is usually enough to answer 99% of questions.
