So when do we get the details about the supercharged engine blowing up on the drive home?

I was hoping for details like at what boost levels it occured, what the symptoms were prior to it blowing up. Has it been torn down yet to see what failed? Any pictures? I am trying to get the details on all the motors that have been blown up with forced induction systems.

Not all boost is created equally. Depends on how cool that charge is when it hits the manifold. I wouldn't be surprised if over 20 psi was possible on a well cooled charge with 9:1 compression and 91 octane.

I always held the philosophy in regards to engine builds; If I want the engine to last and to keep it (relatively) safe, I would over build it. If I wanted a DD with 450 whp, I would build the engine to handle 550-600 all day long, with an FMIC that can handle more than what the block is built for. I see all the time people building the engine and pushing the limits with the tune and assuming it will be reliable. Logic dictates that if you push anything 90-95% all the time, it's going to break. If you dial that back to maybe 65-75%, it's less likely to break.

My car builds. One Auto, One Manual

Your #s seemed a little low at 10psi but there are many unknown factors. I'm not bench racing or knocking ya. Just curious.

I wonder if upgrading to a CF single unit driveshaft would increase those numbers @10 psi...

right on.

was just curious and I know some others might be too later on. Not all of us are lucky to have access to corn juice.

good on you though! and lots of luck with both the builds.

Quick recap on this car... I put a bigger sprintex/bullit blower on this car with a stock engine, and a innercooler that was designed for the smaller innovate kit and suffered an engine detonation. Again, I want to state that I knew at the time that the blower hadn't been tested, and it was going to generate a ton of boost. Even with E85 the heat was just too much.

The car detonated on 93 pump gas, trying to limp the car home while we were waiting to develop a plan for the future.

Anyways, after sitting on the car for almost 4 months, and working with a custom shop to try to produce a bigger or better innercooler and not having any success due to room constraints, I have now started considered a meth kit and a bigger heat exchanger.

I'm a little worried of relying on meth, afraid that if it fails, i'll detonate another engine.

Thoughts anyone?
My thought is either sell the charger, or build your block. Id recommend getting rid of that charger

As above build the block, or sell it and get the 210+ when it comes out.

I showed this thread to Sprintex when the det first happened, they said this blower should not under any circumstance be used without a built engine. To try get it working on the stock one would just be wasting the blower, by restricting it's airflow, running a stupid large pulley to lower the boost.

I'm not sure how running meth etc will help, the boost value from the charger won't change and i doubt the block melted from heat alone.

Then sell everything and get another turbo build. If you still want supercharged power then you could go with a Vortech and an upgraded blower.
