It would be neat to swap in a stock TT Aristo motor 2JZ. It has accommodations for cruise control, traction control, and the electronic throttle sensors, in addition to the cable. From doing research, and since my IS also has the later Supra/Aristo hybrid cable/electronic throttle system, I've come to find out that the electronic sensor is to achieve the same amount of energy produced going uphill as well as downhill, so your car will accelerate the same uphill as in downhill. It automatically increases and decreases the throttle position given the same input depending on elevation. Interesting tech. I wonder how this can be applied to the twins.

Undecided at the moment. Looking at a standard cable system though.

The drive by wire is still manipulated by a cable in the "drive by wire" 2JZ-GTE. The build is taking a lot of turns lately. There was a slight miss-communication and I'm looking into a live axle setup. I don't do twisties so the purists are REALLY going to hate my car.

In any case, the heads are coming off and a set of GSC S2's, Beehive springs/Ti retainers and new valve stem seals are going in.

I plan on pulling the FA20 in April after we move into our new house and it should be a fun build.

Looking forward to the 2jz build. I'm a twisties person but your car is going to make for a badass street/strip toy! 9 sec car and driven to the track.

Yeah, but the solid axle sorta takes away from that.

To the OP: Please do a proper long arm suspension with decent triangulation. It will make it that much better to drive down the street and will help control the power. I am sure there has to be drag forums that cover proper suspension setups, but coming from the Jeep world, I have some buddies who have built their own suspesions and there are geometry calculators that can calculate things like articulation, COG, wheel hop, and the like so that you get the best possible setup.

I have a few very very knowledgeable friends that I will be working with to make this all come together. We'll be nailing down specifics very soon.

Just got back from the machine shop earlier today and I'm looking at a fun setup

VVTI is front sump that is why it has fitment issues.

Good luck with your build.

Bad ass! I have found a fellow 2JZ FT86 brother lol. I just picked up a BRZ and recently joined this forum. My build has been on the low but I will cameo the venture in this thread. I went with the Xcessive Engineering 2JZ FT86 engine mount kit as well.

If you are already in the engine, you might as well do the heads. I replaced the water pump, timing belt, pulled the heads (Stage II PnP) and also went with the GSC S2s mated with the Beehive springs. Heads are fully built along with the bottom end. Don't forget about the billet modified oil pump, billet tensioner, and damper. I went with an ATI super damper crank pulley. I have the V160 6-speed trans with a ATS triple carbon clutch. Still trying to decide on the rear-end and the DS will of course come from the Driveshaft shop. More details will be in my build thread which will be created once I drop the engine in.

Which intake manifold are you going with slicktop? I went with a Virtual Works with a 90mm TB.

Time to share some photos:

If you or anyone else needs some help/advice with a 2JZ build, please give me a shout. I would be glad to help.

You can always swap out the oil pans if need be.

2JZ Front sump oil pan VS. 2JZ Rear sump

2JZ Front sump oil pan VS. 2JZ Rear sump
Always great to hear from another guy doing the swap! My motor was dropped off yesterday at the machine shop.

Preliminary details:

10:1 CP Pistons
Carrillo H-beam rods w/ CARR bolts
Pro-Gram mains
ARP fasteners all around
GSC S2
GSC Beehive w/ Ti retainers
GSC Valve guides
GSC Valves (stock size)
GSC VSS

I'm sticking with stock throttle body at the moment because I know it can support four digits. I have the PHR modded oil pump and MVP billet tensioner w/ Gates belt. There's a possibility of some more stuff happening but it's up in the air at the moment.

I'm going with a custom rear end setup. No details on that yet, but I'll definitely keep you in the loop!
