If you're looking at that car, why not compare it to a 335ix, S4, or IS-350 F-sport? They're much more direct competition to the Q50. The STi is in a completely different class of car - less expensive, more performance oriented, and less comfort oriented (which will be very obvious if you put them on an actual track, rather than just looking at 0-60 times).

Turn off the AUTO DCCD (full rear) and launch it like you've got a pair. You'll do better than this video shows. Looks and sounds like the driver was failing at using the clutch. Hell, a 2nd gear launch would probably garner a better 0-60. What do you need to spend 10k for? Intake, exhaust, and tune shouldn't be more than $5k. IMO, the STI is fantastic stock. If you feel you'd need to spend 10k to be happy with the STI, get a different car (or maybe spend that money on track time so you can juice the most out of the STI). SCCA events are dirt cheap. My car easily does 150+ with just a K&N short ram intake. Destroys most cars to 60 (especially in the rain), and is stupid fun in the snow. As far as luxury goes, the early STIs didn't even come with a head unit or speakers. The latest car is 'luxurious' by comparison. You buy an STI for the fantastic AWD, upgraded engine, and on-rails handing out of the box. There are tons of cheaper drag cars out there if all you care about is straight line handling. My Diavel does 0-60 in ~2.7s with no upgrades and low tens in the quarter for nearly half the price. |

Long story short. If you're buying an STI to drag race and don't want to spend a bunch of money to hang with lighter RWD cars with more power... YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

The Q50s Hybrid with Navigation will be 48.5k. The same as the STI would be 38.5 or so with remote start....etc similar. So Q50s will only be 10k away. A4...Audi and Bmw and Mer are all Germain....with stupid reliability...so no thanks. Yeah, it seems that nowadays, I dont have enough time to pull of SCCA day anymore, just back road carving, and passing power, with a Sedan X_X |

Yeah the IS-350 AWD F-sport is also in a heavy competition in my mind. What I am weighing against are
Is = slower 0-60, snappy, better brake and steering responsiveness, great adaptive suspension Q50 Hybrid = Faster 0-60, not as snappy, but also fast, not as good steering and brake responsiveness, no adaptive suspension.. ? But has good MPG, is a Hybrid Both are in a very similar price range. Though I have always been a Lexus fan, but I can not help but pay attention to the Q50s. I was hoping for the IS300H to be a bit different...but nah...worse than Q50H STI = very Boy-racer....mod friendly....cheaper price like many people say. So, I am asking myself, which one I want for a DD. Ofcourse, if I decide STI is a better one, I may just do WRX for the new 2.0 turbo FA20..that is even cheaper. But I guess, what I want = IS offers it the most, I just want it to be a bit faster....but well, it is the way it is, and not much of a gas saver. That is where the Q50H comes to For what Q50H has, it is comparable to the GS450H which is 60k+ from Lexus. That is what I am leaning forward |

If you want a DD, why would you pick the STI over a WRX? By all accounts the WRX has a smoother powerband, will ride a little nicer, is still really fun to drive, is more subtle looking, gets better gas mileage, and seems to get a slightly faster 0-60 time (CnD got 4.9 launching).
The STI makes sense if the car is going to see track time, but if you have a 2nd car or will be not be doing track days/autocrosses why bother? |

Don't forget, Subaru's tune on the wrx and sti are extremely underdone, add a 3" turboback and tune (1k-2k) and you're looking at totally different power and times for far less.
