no mounting hole(seat bolt) yet but thats easy. i need a little mesh grill for the sub port. have to decide on what color i want to do. prob wrb or black.

How much would u charge for that?

I may be interested in this box. Is it complete? Can you take a better picture of it inside and outside of the car (all around it)?

Maybe it's a terrible idea... but has anyone tried something like this yet?

I can't be the first person to prioritize trunk space and rear-seat-fold-down-ability.

If you didn't want to do run the crazy mids and highs... you could invert the subs and the "rear seats" would fold flat.

a setup like that would work really well with a single IB 10. considering the airspace of the trunk, it wouldn't be worth porting.. and i don't understand the point of the dual 4ch amps..

The plan is to split the stereo signal with MiniDSP out to 8 channels:
L & R - ring radiator tweeters in the A pillars
L & R - sealed midranges in the dash
L & R - woofers in the door
L & R - subs in the rear

I don't see much point in center-channel or rear fill with this car. Might test out a few configurations to see what works best.

According to this: LINK We have 6.9 cubic feet of trunk space with the seat up. The opening behind the seat is 13.25" x 40.5"

From my understanding, you want to make sure the trunk volume is atleast 10 x Vas. You also want to make sure to choose a woofer that has a Qts value between 0.6 - 0.8 (it damps itself well without support from a box).

The 10" subs I was planning to use have a Vas of 0.222 ft^3 and Qts of 0.721. That seems like a good fit for this application.

I've seen 3 main designs for IB in cars:

Considering the size of the car, you might find this to be a better plan. More power to a single should give better control over the driver, which will be marginal with an infinite baffle setup. Of course you could argue that because it doesn't have the reinforcement of a proper box, you need all the driver surface area you can reasonably get, but I put accuracy at a premium, and accurate IB drivers tend to be power hungry due to very stiff suspensions, if I remember this stuff correctly.

Anything below 50 Hz won't or so won't give you a tangible benefit with regard to imaging. In a car with significant reflections, pockets, and generally bad acoustics... it does seem like a multi-sub setup gives you less cancellation/peaks throughout the car.

The following thread discusses multi-sub systems: LINK

The main reference from that discussion is a very technical paper, but it shows that more subs at a lower power yield a more even sound distribution. It also suggests that basic amounts of DSP can make tuning a multi-sub system quick and easy. LINK to PDF

Here's another reference that I found beneficial: LINK to PDF

TL;DR - The bottom octave of music (20-40 Hz) doesn't care if it's mono or stereo. Reflections and cancellation can get wonky. The top octave of sub-bass will have minor improvements with stereo bass (if it's processed properly).
