Which Blowoff/Bypass Valve do you use?
I haven't seen a discussion anywhere about which BOVs people are using. I'd be interested to hear what the favourite options are and maybe some constructive discussion as to why one is prefered over another.
I'm thinking of the AVO kit and for now I think I may just go with a plastic Bosch. |

I ran a Tial Q on my last STI and could never get it to perform consistently. On this BRZ build I have now switched to a TurboSmart VeePort Pro, haven't yet to run it but very impressed with it so far.

Short of how it looks, if you haven't run it, how can you be impressed?

I should also mention that going with the AVO setup on an AVO Turbo kit will mean you don't have to get any custom flanges welded on to the charge pipe.

Physical build quality and construction. Good instructions, things like that. I also had a hard time mounting the Tial because it was so large, the Vee Port is much smaller so thats much more freedom in terms of where to mount it.

It would be great if everyone could state what they have and why they chose it for future searchers. There are a lot of turbos on the forum. |

Turbosmart is where it's at. I've owned many a BOV and it's by far the best I've owned. Sounds awesome, it's nice and small so it'll fit just about anywhere, v-band connections, very high quality machine work and the customer service is insane.
I had an issue where they didn't list a spring stiff enough for the vacuum my engine pulls. I called Turbosmart and they had one overnighted to me for free the next day. I didn't even have to ask. I was calling to see if I could buy one and they were just like "oh no, it's on us, and it'll be there tomorrow morning". Best customer service experience I've had on a car part, ever. We have always had great results with Turbosmart products. We are using either the Veeport or Raceport BOV, and Comp Gate 40 waste gate on our kits. Their quality is top notch for sure.

I had similar issues. I ended up with an 11 psi spring and a couple aluminum washers to keep it closed at idle. I believe they now make a 12 psi spring for the Q as well.

I think I've settled on this GFB Respons TMS BOV. It has the capability to go from full recirc to full blow off with anything inbetween by adjusting a collar on the body.
I don't know anything about the company but those Australians seem to make good products. Any opinions? Here's a video about it. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECkvx-YWgQI"]GFB Respons Blow-off valve - YouTube[/ame] |

The important thing is just that if you have a draw through maf you use a recirc, and if it's blow through use whatever you want. Other than that it's pretty much personal preference. I'll always use turbosmart from now on though.
