Oh, yep made sense. Usually from what I've read defective interals would show on a dyno while still NA and stock, that's why, before I go FI I'm going to dyno my car, and have the pistons inspected. I'll just put that here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...k+motor+yet%3F

S/C is also a really good option. JRSC or Kraftworks would be my choice on that department and would be really close to my $6475 (I think).

Has subaru always had this problem? Or are they just as common on other engines as much as subaru's?

I recall discussion on the built-motor section of NASIOC. Worth talking to the more popular builders of WRX/STI engine to see how common it is. Of course, I have no education/experience in building engines, so I'm just speculating.

I'll check on that. Is it still too early to see if this engine will have...the gasket problem?

Far too early, but a variant of this engine has been out since MY2012 on the Impreza platform. You could check the word on those engines to see if they have the headgasket issue - what I will say is that most recent turbo EJ engines haven't had outright failures like the 90s NA engines...but they still leak a bit (first-hand knowledge, saw a new STI with ~3K miles on a lift).
