making the exhaust noise tolerable at WOT and being catless.
So with my recent addition of a TC kit/EL header, I have 0 cats in my car. I have the Invidia N1, and is way too loud now at WOT (0% ~ 50% throttle is pretty tame).
Are cats the only way to make everything quieter? Or will adding more resonators help? I have no rasp on my exhaust currently, just way too freaking loud. Also, I've never had a muffler shop make custom exhausts, but is this a viable route as well? As far as quiet exhausts go, all i can find is the Q300, stock exhaust, resonated Perrin. They all seem a little raspier compared to the N1's deep bassy tone. Any suggestions?

resonators / mufflers are the way to tone down noise not cats

The size a placement of the muffler is really what controls end volume. Position and size of resonators change the tone, this includes rasp. Now knocking down the rasp and altering the tone can make the end sound seem quieter and less abrasive to the ear with out actually registering lower on say a db meter.

If you look it seems most of the quiet systems for this platform use a factory style transverse muffler.

Yeah thats one of the only ways to fit a large muffler under these cars. There really isnt much room to play with

Exactly. The issue with bullet style mufflers is the lack of sound absorbent material that can be packed in them.

Always upgrade the source end first if sound is your thing.

The header is the main issue. We've seen it time and time again. A catted header is the only way we have found to keep the noise down. Catless header and you are in for some ear bleeding.

but ideally with FI, you don't want to have any cats correct? Ugh, my buddy has a 1000whp Supra, and my car still sounds louder..
