Rear BC BR coilover making noise

Hey guys after some help. Over the weekend i installed some BC BR coilovers to my ft86 and when i went for a test drive i am getting some knocking/clunk sound coming from both rears. I have gone over all bolts ect and also re-did the preload to 5mm but noise still persists. I can reproduce the noise by pushing up and down on the boot area but if i put the dampening to full soft it doesnt make the noise :S

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Diconnect rear sway bar links from sway bar ends zip tie and test drive and see if it goes silent.
This was my issue as links were bad and bolts stripped from factory. Lowering made them clunk.

Or maybe it's the trunk noise issue just getting worst after lowering the car

It's definitely the Coilovers. Had these on my last car, so annoying. Eventually just removed them and sold them. I ended up buying the tarmacs for this car and don't suffer from any noises.

Would twisting the coilover to adjust height cause the top nut to loosen??

My KW's did this after a few hundred miles, the nut on the top mount backed off a bit. Take the rear coil off and see if the nut is loose. They can be annoying to get tight enough cause the strut will try and turn with the nut. Pretty sure that the mounts also have a dot indicating which side faces forward, if that makes any difference.

Still haven't figured out the issue. Spoke with the supplier and will be sending back the rears for inspection.

Its just wired that when I put one of the rears on full soft the noise goes away but as soon as I turn up the hardness it comes back :S

Now I will waiting patiently to see what BC find wrong with the coils!!

Great info in this thread. I'm chasing a clunking noise too, along w/ some rear instability @ the limit--I'll check the top nuts on the C/O & the sway bar links.

Thx gents...

I doubt its your coilovers. I had BC's sold them and bought a new brand after trying several things including tightening the top nuts, and triple checking all torque specs.. even had my wrench calibrated.

My noise is still there with the new coilovers. adjusting dampers doesn't change my noise, nor does raising the car. The noise does go away with stock suspension, however.

I have been underneath the car with a stethoscope searching for the source of the noise, I've made rubber gaskets for the top hats, over tightened the LCA bolt, disconnected the coilover and checked through the range of motion to see if it was something interfering.. Nothing.

I'm waiting to try subframe spacers and see if that cures me.
