So where exactly is this hole? Drivers side pull back the Matt and it's near the gas pedal ? Or am I wrong

Passenger side below the glove box. Pull the carpet down and you'll see a hole. You can't miss it.

I plugged the hole on my stock brz and wasn't too impressed tbh. Made the car sound quieter/slower than it already is loll I am one of the few that like the sound intake haha

I'll probably plug it again once I get a exhaust and intake.

Can this plug be installed permanently without water leaks?

Yes, water leaks. Should have clarified that I want to delete the sound tube completely, so the side in the engine compartment will be open. Or is it better to seal it from the engine compartment side?

I'm wondering the same thing as I'm getting my intake tomorrow and I'm going to delete the sound tube completely. The sound tube can be taken out by just pulling it out; I'm guessing through the engine side. Do I have to plug the engine side and cabin side or just one is good enough?

If you are removing the sound tube then you only need to remove it down to the plastic elbow as shown in this picture. place a rubber cap over the exposed elbow and that is it. You don't need to plug the other end inside the cabin or even need to remove the tube beyond this point. If you do, then you will only have to start looking for an even larger plug to fill the hole in the firewall.

I have two of these cars. One has the tube still connected to the intake and just plugged in the cabin. The other car has the tube completely removed. I can assure you the complete removal of the sound tube is absolutely no quieter than a plugged tube! It does however make the engine bay a lot less cluttered.

There's cheaper DIY options but this one looks nice.

A foam earplug or a wad of bubble gum will do the same thing if your mod budget won't cover it 8)

Wait a minute. This whole assembly coming off the left side of the air intake is just to provide a certain sound in the cabin?

what a waste of time and material.

Yup. And yup again.

Now, if only someone could give the dimensions of the cap for the intake hole I'd need, I'd go outside right now & delete the sound tube entirely.
