As far as cost = picture quality, for these cameras, picture quality is actually the least part of the cost. Even a $12 camera produces a great picture on our head unit. Most of the cost goes into the size and quality of the housing. A $12 camera is going to end up with moisture in it and will fail quickly.

I have both a $12 camera and a $115 camera. Can't tell the difference between the video quality, but one's plastic, big, and had moisture fogging up the lens after being exposed to the elements. The other's metal, slim, and has endured rainstorms and my pressure washer without a problem.

Like I mentioned, it isn't hooked up yet. I tested it on my kitchen TV to be sure it works and that the lines were deleted.

Thanks.
139.00 for the camera via eBay
21.80 for the RCA w\pins from SVXdc (also got the ground wire)
160.80 total

Agreed. I feel like it was worth the money just based on how it looks. As long as I don't run over any toys when backing out of the garage and I never have to swap it out I will be happy.

I know it's a $20 one and like foobar said it's made of plastic probably and might fail. Aside from quality issue, will connecting it to the deck be the same? Back to the quality issue, is there a way to fix the moisture issue. Like opening it up and adding like rubber or film or other sorts to help combat that moisture issue?

Thanks!

Quick question--the trunk trim/fascia that needs a 5/16" hole drilled--is that made of plastic or sheet metal? I'm not near my car at the moment, but was going to stop by and get a drill bit, and want to make sure I get the proper one.

Thanks,

Anyone ordered recently? I emailed 96svx.dc a couple of days ago but haven't heard back yet. Do they take a few days to reply typically?

I had mine for about 8 months, the paint is still good.

Has anyone tried installing the duo directly into the license plate hole? Is this at all possible without drilling?

Cool.... I was thinking about the Duo for my SWP BRZ Limited and was thinking black sure would draw attention where white would blend in better....

thats exactly how the beatsonic cam installs, just pull the plastic insert out behind the plate, where the plate screw would go into, then fish wires through hole in liscence plate / hole in trunk / put the camera in its place and bolt securely from the back with a washer. No Drilling required.

It Is ESSENTIAL that you order/purchase the correct model camera though that is meant to be mounted "upside down" or the pic on your screen will be flipped upside down.

Hey y'all,

I've seen a couple people with this install have their little "guide" lines off-center due to the mounting point of the camera. I am confident this would drive me up the fucking wall. Can the guide lines (green, yellow, red) be set up by the user?

Guide lines are set in the headunit. Hold down all 3 hard buttons on the headunit at once to get into the system diagnostics menu and click your way to camera settings. It's in there somewhere and will allow you to move the lines left/right/up/down or curve left/curve right. There should also be a guide somewhere on the forum with pictures of what I just described.

Only thing I've noticed on mine is the ring around the lens has gone all funky rainbow colored, like it's covered in a thin film of oil.
