There are basically three types of power window systems used in automobiles at this time. The differences between the three are as follows. Type A: The power window control switches for a type A window system never change polarity when the ignition key is turned on. The switches in a type A system either rest at ground or rest open (no connection). The switches in a type A system will either switch +12 volts and ground at the same time to achieve up or down window motor polarity, or both wires will be resting at ground and when the window switch is activated, one wire will switch to +12 volts while the second wire will remain grounded (Same as a 5 wire power door lock system). In all variations of the type A system, the power window control switches always provide +12 volt output to operate the window motors. Type B: The power window control switches in a type B system change polarity when the ignition key is turned on. The wires in a type B system will rest at ground until the ignition key is turned on. Once the ignition key is turned on, the wires will be resting at +12 volts. When the ignition key is turned on and the window switch is activated, the window switch will provide a ground signal to the window motor. (Just the reverse of a type A system). For the type B system, two additional relays must be added to reverse the polarity of the switched ground output wires. Type C: The power window control switches in a type C system are the same as in a type A system with one exception. The window motors in a type C system are grounded by the motor housing and use two different coil windings to run the window motor up and down. Type C window systems are rare but it is important to make a simple test to insure that the vehicle you are working on does not use the type C window system. I am not sure what type of system the FRS uses. I think its Type A but you will have to do some testing. Using a voltmeter, test and locate the Up + and Down + wires provided by the window control switches for both the drivers and passengers window. If you get UP - and Down - you will need 2 relays . Then follow your install instructions that came with your Viper 5704 |

Yes, the Bosch is fine. Hook up the relay this way if its a - type B setup.
Trigger (+) from the viper to the # 86 on the relay # 30 & 85 from the relay to any ground on the FRS # 87 from the relay to 1 of the door window wires. Last edited by milkesfrs; 01-17-2014 at 11:59 AM. |

This may be a tad off topic, but I was wondering from your experience with the install of the Advanced Keys product on your FR-S, would you think/believe it would be possible to simply use the Advanced Keys key fob on a Limited BRZ.
What I really find interesting is the "credit card size" design in their key fob. Seems more interesting than having a bump in your front pocket. I'm sure this sounds incredibly stupid for most, but wtv. I would like to have my key in my wallet at all times. Would add to the pleasure of having keyless entry. |

I think you might have misunderstood what I meant.
I didn't mean to ask if it would be possible to install the same set up. I meant to ask : Is it possible, in your opinion, to just switch the BRZ limited's key fob for the AK key fob? Thanks for giving me your opinion and sorry for the slight thread jacking

The aux 2 on the viper 5704 is a negative pulse. I think? Would it still work thought or do I need a steady (-) when I hold down the button? |

When the Aux 2 command is received the wire will turn on and remain on until the command is received again or the ignition is turned on/off. I would use the H2/2 wire from the viper. Hook that wire up to a relay. Now I dont know like i said if the FRS has a + or - window switch. My FRS got hit and is in the shop for repairs so I cant check. If your not sure dont hook up H2/2 without the relay or you might blow your viper 5704 unit.
