Anyone care to take a peek at my first pull with the 1.42b Stage 1 tune? ~162 seconds is a 0-62 run (check the throttle) and the 300 seconds chunk is a 3rd gear pull (Once again, check the throttle because it started on an on road and I was cruising slowly so that I could maintain low RPM before going WOT.

Can anyone speak to the OFT tune with daily driving after a full exhaust swap? I'm thinking this will be the path I take but I wanted to hear some other impressions. (And yes I've read good bit of the thread already)

If not I'm planning to give it a shot. Going to start by comparing stage1 timing tables to the stock timing tables, multiply the differences by a small amount, and apply to my new 93 map. Check knock and incrementally repeat. When I do see knock, pull timing 1/2 degree and re-check.. Seem like a sound approach? Any other advice? I'm a software engineer so I know how to approach things empirically, but I'm learning so any tips would be greatly appreciated.

i planned on doing something similar at some point. is this the only value we can take advantage of with higher octane?

Well I'd advise only touching one of the timing tables, whether it be base or advance that's up to you. I also like the idea of flat advance tables across each load so you can easily see if there's any timing being pulled, but that's just me.

@troek timing is the only thing that changes with differences in octane as you can run more advance with better fuel. The target AFRs won't change, unless the AFRs appear to be changing as a result.

Changing timing drastically can affect other things, but this operation should be a very minor increase in the base timing tables as there's not a huge difference between 91 and 93 - though I'd expect there'd be enough room to gain a few hp without running on the ragged edge. I've created a preliminary map by creating deltas (in Excel) between the factory map and Shiv's 91, then multiplying those values with deltas > 0 by a value so the largest deltas increase by 1/2 degree timing. I plan on doing these increments until logs start showing consistent knock, then I'll go back to the prior map (move back 1/2 degree for breathing room). I haven't really started testing because the temptation to run E85 got the best of me this week Once I get around to playing around more with my test 93 maps I'll post my results.

Is the soft rev limiter feature still in this 1.42 stock tune? If so, what exactly does it do?

I remember when I had 1.34 and rev'ed up to the limit, it kept my rev at the limit instead of bouncing back down. I just got a new BRZ and uploaded the 1.42 stage 1 tune to it and I thought I'd rev it up to make sure the tune was written correctly, but it cut off power and my needle bounced off the rev limit! I checked the vehicle rom info and it says stage 1.

LC is set to delta 2000 in the OTS tune. That seems to activate the factory style rev limit and cuts in at 5500RPM.

I've gotta say, I am really enjoying the OFT. In the stock car, power delivery was much improved with 93 and my logs seemed to be spot on ideal. I even picked up ~3mpg. I just switched to the 1.42b EL e85 tune with some corn juice and it must be high e stuff because I couldn't make it 1/2 mile without the fuel trims jumping. After about 2 miles I had to pull over (ahead of my preplanned stop) to flash because I could feel the loss in power and changes in timing. With corn juice it is just wonderful. The car would be amazing if it came like this. I'll get my first e85 log up later. I couldn't do a full 0-60 or full 3rd gear pull because I was on backroads, but the power was sweet. I couldn't open it up all the way like I normally can because of the wet roads.

Premium grade gasoline must be used. E85 fuel must be used for E85 designated tune files....

How do I know which files are for e85 and which ones are for premium gasonline?
Thanks.

e85 maps are marked in the tune name. It is premium gas unless otherwise noted.

thanks for doing this,
my question is do i have to change "Cranking Fuel IPW Compensation A (RPM) Engine Speed (RPM)" to all "0.0"?
THanks

This morning, I was able to start my car on the second crank with a coolant temp of 62F. Gonna keep experimenting to see if I can get it to start on the first.

FWIW, I'm using 100% Propel E85, which measures 78-80% ethanol on my Zeitronix gauge.

Disclaimer.. use at your own risk blah blah blah.
Question: On tables A and F, why do the values go up then abruptly drop back down and start climbing again? Shouldn't they be a steady climb up?

Yes.. ideally. Those numbers posted above were still a work in progress, and I was really only concerned about 32+ F degrees, since it will never get to 14F where I am. Tweak till it works for you.
