Steering wheel removal question.
I followed the DIY on here. Got the airbag removed. Removed the 17mm center nut. Steering wheel is still not coming off. Am I missing something? I'm pulling rather aggressively on the steering wheel to no avail.

Leave the nut threaded with enough space for the steering wheel to come out but not completely(prevents steering wheel from slapping you in the face), and pull forward left and then right to loosen the wheel. Thanks. Now on to problem number 2. How do I fix this eff up.
![]() Not a great picture I know but the clock spring came unraveled. I've tried a number of different things so far and can't get the center on with the ribbon not being in the way.

Never mind. Just took a little trial and error to find the right rollers for the ribbon to come out of.

I'm curious as to how you messed up your clock spring like that? I swapped out my steering wheel and it was fairly easy

Not sure. The steering wheel did not come off simply for me. Took a bit of force to come off the steering column. When it did finally come off, the cover for that ribbon came off with it. The rest as they say is history.

That is why you need to leave the nut on the steering shaft so you don't end up pulling it out. You will need to replace the clock spring at this point.

According to the repair manual, it should turn 2.5 times in each direction when you have the clock spring set up correctly. Once you get the wires fixed and the housing attached you can look for a marking on the bottom of the unit.

anyone get an "ABS" and loss of traction light on? I put my sparco wheel on and then removed it to put the oem wheel back on, those 2 lights stay on. the airbag light goes away though...

Clockspring probably isn't centered. Try reinstalling the steering wheel taking special care to note position of clockspring is centered in relation to steering wheel center.
