Same shit here 4,900 miles on mine. I put the key in, turn it and it struggles to start for about 5-10 seconds then finally starts up. Happened to me a bunch of times in cold and hot weather...embarrassing at times, as it is a brand new car

Cars start precisely when they should. Really 5-10 seconds of cranking isn't a big deal.

I hope so...but in the moment it feels and seems very abnormal. Car shakes a little, everything that lights up(speedometer, radio, a/c knobs, etc) kind of dampens as if there isnt enough power, then it starts and it runs fine..

Check and clean the terminals. would be wise to check what is the Cold Cranking Amps of the battery, as well.

This happened once in the fall to me, 2nd try was good. Maybe a total of 10 seconds of crank before she turned over. I don't think it's the cold because it's been consistently under -25 here and hasn't happened since. Mt limited.

Had the car over a year now and it would rarely have an issue where it would take a couple extra cranks and stutter in low rpms at start up before moving up to normal levels. It only happened occasionally. Although now with this cold weather it's been doing it frequently. Yesterday and today it took three tries, strong cranks but no start until the third try, and very stuttery.

My FRS has done this once. I think it's something electronic in nature. Not mechanical.

Never touch the gas when starting the car. I did put some shell v power in it just to see. I'm sitting at the dealership to get a diagnosis too.

It actually happened to me as well yesterday. I drive an auto as well. It'd happened a good while back too. I think it happens when you don't turn the ignition to where the needles flick on first and then crank it. i admit i started it really quickly yesterday, when normally i let the injectors prime first.

This has never happened to me and I have BRZ w/ push button start and 15000 miles.
It starts every time in less than 2 seconds even when -20deg F outside. And for those thinking that holding the pedal down might cause it to flood: This car is drive by wire. The ECU likely ignores the position of the gas pedal until the engine is out of the "start state". If the engineers did not write the code to work this way, they they should be fired. |

Dealership found nothing wrong. The tech suggested a fuel intake cleaner but was hesitant to endorse it fully because he wasn't sure how it would work on a boxer engine. Thoughts?
