To give an update I did my first full tank went from 340 or s a tank to 312 this tank. 25MPG although the factory MPG Calc claims 33MPG...
Either way not bad at all on E85. I was not on it a lot but 25 MPG is fine by me. On another note Robert and Shiv we will be placing our order on Monday looks like 3 OFT's for the Tucson Group will be added with 2 more waiting until after Christmas.

Why don't you use the Fuel Multiplier Display Offset table to correct it? I would think that similar to the single float value in other Subarus, you would just multiply the values in the table by the appropriate factor. Worth a try.

I noticed what sounded like possible knocking in the mid rpm range when i go WOT. it looks like after 3krpm, i'm at afr: 14.6, stft: 1.56, ltft: 3.12, ignition adv: 50-52ish, adv multiplier .97. This is on 93 octane, drop in filter, greddy axle back. Do these numbers look ok?

That sounds like an excellent idea I will give it a try!

So I've been struggling over the past few days to resolve my cold start issue with the E85 maps. At the suggestion of a member I modified the Cranking pulse width tables which helped a little bit. I went from 30+ cranking attempts to get started to around 1-3 if I give it a little throttle on startup.
I could live with that but this afternoon I went out to crank the car and it has me thinking that there is something that needs to be changed besides the Cranking pulse width tables. It was 65 degrees outside and exactly the same issue, took 3 attempts to get cranked. The car is running great once I get it started, A/F ratios rock solid at 12.3 and LTFT is sitting at 2.3 at WOT. Is this something I should expect using E85 pretty much all the time as 65 degrees seems to be a little warm to be having cold start issues? Is there anything else I can look at adjusting to correct this issue as its starting to get slightly annoying and I'd like to think its possible to have the car actually crank on the first try. Any help would be appreciated. |

Ok, so it's not the hot start enrichment tables. But there's a clue in what you say about the throttle. The way the logic works is that if the throttle is pressed whilst cranking, the base pulse width is cut, by an increasing percentage as throttle % angle gets greater. Might be worthwhile cutting back the additional cranking enrichment just a little, see if that helps. You can also verify this by logging AFRs at cranking.

I appreciate your help but for now the fact that I can't get my car to start like normal when its 65 degrees outside is unacceptable to me. Maybe I'll try E85 again in the summer. |

Reading some of this (over my head, as I said) makes me glad I have no desire to experiment on my own. I'm assuming you could destroy your engine in short order with this if you are not careful, correct? If so, just how quickly could you do it, and what would be the most harmful thing you could do? I'm assuming super-lean or detonation, correct? NOTE: I have no plans to grenade my engine, which is why I'm not going to even pretend to know what I'm doing. I'll happily pay Vishnu to tweak my maps if I get to that point.

I switched back to regular gas this morning, mostly in anticipation of a track day, because I don't want to haul a bunch of E85 with me to the track. I was thinking that after the track day I would immediately go back to E85, but I don't want to have cold start issues again so I will hold off until this issue is at least partially resolved.
