Which square or staggered setup should I go with? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I'm debating what size TWS T66-F wheels to get. Both function and form are factors and I don't plan to go forced induction. I will have coilovers so inner clearance won't be a problem. These are the 18" wheel spec options:

18x8.5J +42 (poll says +43; I'm unclear which offset is correct)
18x9.0J +44
18x9.5J +45

For 18x9.5 square, would you go with a 245 or 255 tire? I like how 9.5 sits best but don't like the slight stretch of 245 nor the jump in cost and weight of 255 on an NA car.

18x9.0 +44 (square):

18x8.5 +42 (F) / 18x9.0 +44 (R):

18x8.5 +42 (F) / 18x9.0 +44 (R) also on TWS demo car w/ recommended 245/35R18 square tires (looks like spacers are used):

18x9.5 +45 (square):

I believe this is 18x9.5 +45 (square) on a widebody with 250 wide tires:

I can't find any pics of 18x8.5 +42 (F) / 18x9.5 +45 (R).

I think you want the 18x9.0 square only because it will fit within the wells, with little problem. Plus a staggered set up generally causes cars to understeer a bit more. Don't know how much a 0.5" difference will make, but that is always something concider

Do you or anyone know if 18x9.5 with 255/35 tires will have fitment issues up front using ST/KW coilovers that use the stock spring perch?

I think Jive Turkey's BRZ has a similar set up, and I think he has zero rubbing issues. Try finding his build thread and his wheel set up here.

Interesting wheel, don't even see em anywhere other then Rakuten are they a upcoming release to someone in NA? They remind me of a pf01 enkei.. Kinda neat

If you are just streeting them I would say 8.5 9.5 with a drop for flush all around.

He's on an 18x9.5 +40 on 265/35/18 and had very minor rubbing issues like several others on a 9.5" square setup; with the metal tab by the side markers in the front and a plastic piece in the back which many have just dremeled down or simply let wear down.

With a +45 offset and coils I'm sure you could easily fit a 255 tire in there (keep in mind some tires run wider than others)

Of course there are other variables like how much you plan on dropping and how much camber you run that affect the fitment/rubbing of a setup. Which you'll probably want to get some LCA's for the back and camber bolts for the front to dial this in to your liking.

For me it all boils down to weight. Regardless of the width, your car will always look the same from the side since they're all 18". From the front and back, obviously wider tires will look a bit sexier, but it's also kind of misleading to have super wide wheels on a BRZ with stock power levels, you know what I mean? So for me I'd prefer to not stray too far from stock spec wheels.

I hear 225 is the ideal maximum width. Technically 17" is the ideal size wheel, but whatever. I think 18" looks dope. I know I'm going for 18x8 for my next wheels so I can use 225 width tires since I prefer less contact patch.

Also I would go with square because when you try to resell your set of 5x100 wheels, most likely they'll go to an AWD Subaru owner.

I think the 18x8.75 et33 square from the XXR 530s looks sick! I've decided this is what I'm doing. 225/40 or 235/40 cant decide though
