Our freight and prep is in the $1600 range, and I seem to recall it being in the $1000 range stateside.

In Canada a 6 SPD high spec BRZ runs approx. $32000 inc freight, plus 13% tax. That's the priciest package not including dealer installed stuff here.

The car is probably the best deal for what you get when you buy the top line model here. Maybe I should have...
It is the best deal! BTW Looks at the price of a civic SI in the US vs Canada just for fun (and I beleive the SI is assembled in Ontario!). I was very surprised that the scion was so cheap considering we get the short hand of the stick all the time. The WRX is also ALOT more expensive here than in the US.

My wife's cousin who has lived in England his entire life had to wait 18 months for a simple knee operation. (Canada has the very same problem) What do you call that? I call that unacceptable. Socialism is not the answer to anything (English, Irish, European, Australian or American... or any other mix or subset you care to use). I have been to Australia and the people that are great... the socialist governments have been a drag on the country and have actually convinced some people that high taxes and giving everything to everyone actually leads to growth. (Obviously a fantasy) What will improve the social well being of America and everywhere else is the idea the there is a place you can go to, work hard, get ahead and be successful. Much like the US has been for the previous 100 plus years. ... Which is why the US has done so for well over those 100 plus years and drawing people from all over the world who came here were successful.

The current socialist government is crumbling and with it all the nonsense that people have to be given everything. There is an old adage about if you don't earn something you don't appreciate it... that is especially true in this case. You want lower prices for things like cars, better value and lower taxes... skip the socialism and try more of a free market approach.... I know Australia knows how to do it... they have done it in the past. (flame off)
Is a simple knee operation deemed as life threatening? The social health services are for saving lives.

I dont think anyone is convinced that higher taxes lead to growth, it iss not about growth, its about helping people. BTW Australia has had plenty of growth over the last few years, so I guess the social system is working just fine...

I wont delve into my thoughts about the 'success' of the US over the last 100 years, but maybe you would like to step out of your house and go look at your streets.

Lastly free market approach + lack of regulation is exactly the reason why the world is in a mess right now.

back to car pricing

I paid $33,000 for mine

I will agree with chaoskaze about getting back to cars.

In reply to chaoskaze. I, perhaps like you, have been in many countries all over the world and those experiences, both good and bad have formed my views.

That said, some final thoughts...

I have to tell you that I find it scary that you think it is OK that the NHS has waiting lists for people who are in pain and on crutches for 18 months and think it is acceptable.

I wont delve into my thoughts about the 'success' of the US over the last 100 years, but maybe you would like to step out of your house and go look at your streets.

I looked outside of my house and for miles and miles, in every direction, it is very nice indeed here, thanks for asking. And yes, I have been to Perth.

Lastly free market approach + lack of regulation is exactly the reason why the world is in a mess right now.

You are so very wrong about the free market.... but that is a discussion for a different time and a different forum.

P.S. Congratulations to Tony Abbott, Australia’s new Conservative Prime Minister.

Back to car pricing. I paid $30,000 including all taxes and fees and accessories for my 2013 BRZ Limited

I think Australia pretty much lucked out on price here, and for that reason you see A LOT of them around here now...I remember when I got mine there was 6 - 10 in Perth..now there are 100+ here. Price for used ones are also dropping the closer we get to 2014....luckily I sold mine in Jan (when they were still rare) for the same price I bought it for to a Toyota dealership lol! Looking to grab another one early next year

PS: Abenaki when did you come to Perth?
