according to this thread (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...=9836&page=141) there is a new pump out and a new TSB came out oct 17? I tried looking for the TSB on Subaru Canada but you have to pay some big money to access that stuff....does anyone have any info on this?

By law, stations are supposed to have a sticker on any pump that may contain ethanol. The sticker typically reads "may contain up to 10% ethanol". At my local Shell station, there is a sticker on the regular and mid grade pump, but no sticker on the premium. I have noticed the same thing at the local Ultramar. So...it is the absence of a sticker at all that you are looking for. This may not be 100% though, as you are relying on the station owner to do the right thing, and that doesn't always happen. From what I've seen, Shell is a pretty safe bet, Esso seems to be hit or miss, Petro Canada always has ethanol, and the 2 Ultramar stations I've checked don't have the sticker on 91. I have not checked Costco, Canadian Tire, or many of the independents.
I have found that the car runs best on Petro 94, but chirps like crazy in the warmer weather. During the colder months (Nov-Mar), I rarely hear the crickets anyway. On the Shell 91, I get no crickets and slightly better gas mileage, but take a bit of a hit in throttle response and power (not much though...most people wouldn't even notice).

I called my dealer about the chirping, he proceed to tell me my corolla is chirping because it's normal and comin out of the muffler/exhaust system. Made me LOL at work.
Does anyone know if it's possible to go to another dealer for warranty work? |

Just booked the first oil change for the BRZ for early December, inquired about the revised HPFP, they are aware of the revised part and know that the previous one hasn't completely resolved the chirping. Unfortunately they don't have any of the new ones in stock yet but will try and get one in.

That's how I feel, I put Shell though, I like my air miles. 12,000KM redeemed about $100 with AM (also collected some from those x25 + 100AM promotions from buying stuff).

Going to Willlowdale.
There's no point in doing anything with the HPFP unless the service dept can confirm that they can get in the latest revision since the previous revision still has the issue. |
