If you want to keep DI check out the Hydra ecu from element tuning.

Nice build. Are you going to upgrade your engine mounts?

I went with the Hydra system for my car. It has a LOT more to offer, especially for big HP.

It's a standalone system, and also has an associated methanol system called Hydramist (made by Aquamist).

Mine will be installed and tuned in a couple weeks. I'll be doing a build thread.

1800 for proper engine management is a fair price. If anything it is actually on the cheap side. I would personally prefer to use a full standalone over the factory ecu for certain cars. A standalone can bring a lot to the table. If the factory ecu had more available inputs and outputs it would be nice. There are a lot of variables I would like to be able to log, with out having to add a secondary logger. These are just my opinions. Also Hydra is a good system and I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Compared to Ecutek, which is $700-$800, it's about a grand more, and it's a true standalone. for me, that meant that I could set the stock ECU aside until I put the car back to stock when/if I decide to sell the car or need to smog it.
I'm also going for more power than just 91 gas can offer, with WMI. The fact that the Hydra has a sister WMI system, Hydramist (made by aquamist), means that it's all going to work together and be much easier to install and tune, almost plug and play.

I saw thread or vid of someone who installed an Aquamist WMI system with Ecutek, and it looked like a wiring nightmare, and still wasn't dialed in. The guy was working with Aquamist still trying to get it to work, and the wiring jumble I saw scared me a LOT.

Also, I didn't want to use Ecutek, and Openflash doesn't support WMI, so I was limited in choices.

My tuner is familiar with Hydra and has tuned with it before, so that weighed in on my decision as well.

The Hydra I was told is better for BIG HP and for racing applications, where more exact control is required.
